Job Description

Department:Health RecordsStatus:Temporary CasualBargaining Unit:CUPESalary Scale:Per Collective AgreementPosting Date:2022-05-17Closing Date:2022-05-27BackgroundApplications are now being accepted for a Temporary Casual Health Information Technician. This position is anticipated to end on or before March 31, 2023.Education

  • Graduate of an approved program in Health Information Management program
  • Current Registration and in good standing with the Canadian College of Health Information Management (CHIMA) including completion of required CPE credits
Experience
  • Experience with 3M software system/other related abstracting system an asset
  • ICD-10/CCI trained in NACRS and DAD coding, demonstrated skill in Folio (ICD-10-CA, CCI) and Abstracting software (3M)
  • Experience in coding inpatients would be an asset
  • Knowledge and experience with C.I.H.I. reporting structure, MIS guidelines, CMG/DPG and CACS Groupers
  • Intermediate skill in computer programs such as MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), and Internet (CIHI online query, Postal Code Lookup)
Skills and Ability
  • Able to prioritize and perform reliably
  • Able to work efficiently for ministry deadlines for submissions
  • Able to make responsible judgments in analyses of charts, including coding optimization
  • Good decision making skills;
  • Able to deal with situations in a calm and professional manner;
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team;
  • General good health and a level of fitness appropriate for the demands of the position
