Job Description

Your Opportunity:Alberta Health Services (AHS) is looking for Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our team! Working within a multidisciplinary team, the RN plays a key role in support of an integrated holistic approach to the patient #39;s health care, health promotion and health maintenance. You will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of safe quality care following the policies and guidelines of AHS. You will serve a diverse patient population with a continual focus on the core values of AHS - compassion, accountability, respect, excellence, and safety. You will display critical thinking and problem-solving skills in providing direct patient and family centered care to patients across the life span with a professional and positive attitude and excellent communication. This multi-unit position will include Emergency Department and ICU units. Alberta Health Services #39; South Zone is the smallest of the five zones but is also the most geographically diverse. This posting will be used to fill 8 identical vacancies.Description:As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $35.87/hour - $43.82/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable. Required Qualifications:Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.phpid=271#section-0)Additional Required Qualifications:Current clinical experience (within the last 12 months) as a Registered Nurse working in Critical Care. Completion of an accredited Critical Care Training program OR 3 years experience within the last 5 years Critical Care experience. Experience within the last 3 years caring for patients with mechanical ventilation, advanced cardiac monitoring, advanced hemodynamic monitoring, emergency cardiac arrest management, countershock, inotropes, and massive transfusions. All applicants may be required to complete The Orientation Program for Adult Critical Care in Alberta (OPACCA) training or the critical care challenge process. A willingness to learn new skills as required. Ability to work shift work and meet the physical demands of the job. Bachelor #39;s degree in nursing preferred.Preferred Qualifications:Experience in an adult ICU setting, that serves trauma, med/surg, cardiac and neuro trauma patients. Experience working in an Emergency Department caring for patients with continuous cardiac monitoring, major traumas, acute stroke, cardiac events, injuries, general medical/surgical, and neuro trauma services. Experience supporting a code or rapid response team. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC). Charge Nurse experience.
