Job Description

Position SummaryCambrian College’s Employment Options - Manitoulin Campus, has an immediate requirement for a regular part-time, 24 hours per week, Clerk to perform clerical duties in support of programs and services offered by Cambrian College at the Manitoulin Campus.Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide all reception and switchboard services for the office and act as the first point of contact for most customers, clients, and students.
  • Provide information and referral services by assisting clients in the Employment Resource Centre and screen and refer potential program participants and employers to the appropriate staff or community resource.
  • Effectively respond to a wide range of inquiries from clients and students by phone, in-person, e-mail, social media, and on web-based self-service.
  • Support and maintain job posting board in the resource room and on the website by communicating with employment consultants, employers, and researching the local labour market.
  • Maintain, organize, and display resource materials in resource room.
  • Contribute to Employment Options postings on social media.
  • Draft forms and documents, process cheque requests, prepare files, and complete filing as required for program needs.
  • Attend and actively participate in team staff meetings and record and distribute minutes of meetings.
  • Assist customers with résumé preparation and updating required; provide technological support to clients by demonstrating the operation of the computer, photocopier and fax.
  • Gather detailed statistical data from clients and appropriate staff and input on third-party software.
  • Enter appropriate statistical information on the Ministry computer system and in the Employment Options database; conducts Employment Options surveys as needed and records results.
QualificationsRequired:
  • Minimum of a two-year postsecondary diploma in Business or a related field. A copy of educational documents must be submitted with application *** education completed outside of Canada, applicants are required to submit a WES or ICAS with their application)
  • Two years of experience in a dynamic office setting in which there are competing deadlines.
  • Experience in exercising good judgement while being tactful in handling client, and student issues.
  • Experience working as first point of contact for customers, clients and/or students.
  • The ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent customer-service skills.
  • Must be a highly motivated professional with excellent interpersonal and time-management skills, along with excellent communication skills, and be able to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Strong proficiency in the use of Microsoft software as Word, Excel, and Outlook, and demonstrated skills in accessing and effectively using the Internet and social media platforms.
Additional Assets/Preferred:
  • Experience working within a postsecondary environment.
