Worker Type: EmployeeGroup: HLU - Team 1 DepartmentJob Post End Date: 09/13/2022About this Opportunity:Downstream Operations currently has an opportunity for a Process Technician at the Upgrader facility located at Lloydminster, SK. Reporting to the Operations Senior Supervisor, the Process Technician is responsible for the safe operation of a process operating area. This includes operation of all types of equipment, pumps, compressors and control panel consoles including the responsibility for documentation of daily activities. This role works collaboratively with other process technicians and various Departments such as Maintenance and Engineering.Work EnvironmentWork schedule is comprised of a 12-hour shift rotating between days/nights including working weekends/stat holidays ( Example: 2 days/2 nights on, 5 days off; 2 days/3 nights on, 4 off; 3 days/2 nights on, 5 off). This position is operating in a facility; therefore, there will be some physical demands as well as working in various conditions such as working at heights, in confined spaces, with noise, in extreme weather conditions etc.This position is located at the Lloydminster Upgrader Facility and relocation to the Lloydminster, SK/AB area is preferred.About Cenovus:We’re a Canadian-based integrated energy company headquartered in Calgary. Responsibilities
  • Perform safe operations to meet production targets/short term production plan by monitoring process variables & equipment parameters to identify abnormal conditions and carry out appropriate changes
  • Prepare plant equipment for maintenance, as well as issue work permits and ensure their safe completion
  • Complete and log all relevant actions as per Daily Order Books, daily maintenance schedule, etc.
  • Train and participate as a First Responder on the Fire Team to respond and handle emergency situations as needed
  • Routine maintenance and housekeeping duties
  • Create work requests as required utilizing SAP
  • Maintain training and competency requirements
  • Communicate scheduling adjustments to the Shift Supervisor in a timely manner
  • Comply with all HS&E requirements in the performance of this Positions responsibilities
  • Comply with High Reliability Organization standards and expectations
Qualifications
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • 3rd Class Power Engineering certificate, 2nd class power engineering certification or significant advancement towards 2nd class is preferred
  • Completion of 2-year Power Engineering program would be an asset
  • 0 to 5 years’ experience operating utilities or process equipment
  • Knowledge of equipment isolation, safe work permitting and hazard analysis
  • Proficiency with computers is required (experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, SAP, and a field data capture system would be considered an asset)
  • The ability to work in a team environment and a willingness to accept increased operational responsibility
  • Strong commitment to Health, Safety and Environment
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • A valid Class 5 Driver’s License is required.
  • This is a safety sensitive position and will be subject to the relevant requirements of the Cenovus Drug and Alcohol policy which includes pre-assignment testing.
