Reporting to the Senior Coordinator, Thermal Operations. The selected candidate will Operate their respective post (Battery, Steam, Field) and is responsible to ensure it is run in a safe, efficient manner while maintaining the necessary production requirements. The Thermal Plant Operator - Trades will follow an area rotation in which identified competencies in all areas will be met in a desired time frame. In addition to these operational duties, this Trades Operator will complete scheduled minor maintenance tasks (PM’s, repairs, etc.) on electrical and instrumentation equipment. This position will be available to assist in facility upset conditions to perform tasks like breaker resets and instrument repair.About Cenovus:Cenovus Energy Inc. is a Canadian integrated oil and natural gas company. • This position in based in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan.

Responsibilities:

• Operate the Facility in a safe and effective manner, while working collaboratively as part of the operating team.
• Maintain and troubleshoot all area-specific equipment to optimize performance to meet production targets as per Husky guidelines.
• Perform condition monitoring including sampling and testing per area responsibilities. Complete area operations records. (e.g., volume balances, log sheets, work permits and required reports)
• Support operations performed maintenance activities aligned to the site’s operating philosophy. Support on-site maintenance contractors by communicating Husky requirements, policies, and procedures, while leading by example.
• Aid, coaching, on-the-job training, and assessments to new employees as required.
• Complete scheduled maintenance tasks based on their Journeyman qualification (Electrical/Instrumentation). These include PM’s, scheduled minor repairs, etc.
• Respond to breakdown work during weekends/nights/holidays when regular maintenance staff is not on site.

Qualifications:

• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
• 5 years experience in facility Maintenance work.
• 1-2 years experience in operation of oil processing equipment and all associated processes and systems.
• Journeyman certification in Electrical and / or Instrumentation
• Power Engineering certification is an asset (4th or 3rd class).
• The role requires a 3rd class Power Engineering Certificate. If the successful candidate does not hold a Power Engineering Certificate, they are required to secure certifications as follows: 4th class to be completed 2 years from date of hire, 3rd class to be completed 5 years from date of hire.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
• Experience working with SAP.
• Class 5 drivers’ license. For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver’s license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver’s abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the Pre-employment Screening for the final candidate.
• As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments.
