LAKERIDGE HEALTH Long-Term Care HomePosition: Supervisor of Nutrition Services LTC x2Program: Long-Term Care HomeStatus: Regular Full TimeLocation: Lakeridge Health Future Ajax-Pickering LTC SiteSalary: $33.63 - $42.03 per hourPosting: UNEX 2100004718-4719POSITION SUMMARY:Reporting to the Manager of Nutrition Services LTC, the Supervisor of Nutrition Services LTC provides leadership and direction to the Food Services department to ensure residents at a future 320 bed long term care home being built on the Ajax-Pickering hospital site are provided with high quality food and nutritional services.Scheduled to start accepting residents in early 2022, this new home is part of the governments plan to improve long-term care delivery and capacity in Ontario and in the Durham Region. This state-of-the-art long-term care home sets a new bar for seniors care, with dining and outdoor space on every floor, a large courtyard, onsite diabetes care and other important innovative features.Just as Lakeridge Health is a beacon in the Durham community, the new long-term care home will be integral to managing and delivering on the needs and expectations of seniors in the Durham community and Ontario.The Supervisor of Nutrition Services LTC is responsible for:

  • Ensuring residents receive excellent nutritional care by providing them with safe, nutritious, and attractive food; and that meals are served promptly and in a manner that upholds the dignity of residents
  • Supervising food and drink production, the service of all meals and nourishments, inventory control and implementation, conducting inspections of the kitchens and serveries
  • Providing leadership while conducting regular meal service rounds for all dining areas in the home, and ensuring meals are delivered in a timely manner
  • Ensuring exceptional customer service by responding to residents feedback regarding their enjoyment of the meals; working with the Cook and Dietician to adjust menus to ensure resident satisfaction and nutritional standards are maintained
  • Communicating and reporting changes in residents food and drink consumption to the Dietician and care team
  • Working in collaboration with employees across different departments in order to provide the highest quality of care to residents, and to achieve the collective goals and objectives of the organization
  • Ensuring that the Food Services Department operates in compliance with provincial long-term care legislation related to dietary standards by working in accordance with the provisions of applicable Long Term Care Homes Act, health and safety legislation and all corporate/departmental policies and procedures related to occupational health and safety
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Food and Nutrition Management or a related field
  • Current membership in the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management
  • Completion of an approved Food Handlers course
  • A minimum of three (3) year of leadership experience in a Long-Term Care facility
  • A minimum of three (3) year experience in large-scale food preparation, financial planning and budgeting, and storage and delivery, is preferred
  • Working knowledge of related legislation including the: Regulated Health Professional Act; Ministry of Health Long Term Care Standards; Public Health Act; Sanitation Code; as well as labour and Occupational Health legislation.
  • Knowledge and experience with geriatric nutrition, including dietary and nutritional care needs, menu planning and special diets and textures
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Superior supervisory skills, including team building and motivational abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and written and verbal communication abilities
  • Must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past 6 months

  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Healths comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-services in this area
  • Proven good attendance record with capability of maintaining this same standard
