REFRIGERATION PLANT OPERATOR APPRENTICE LOCATION: East Pubnico, NSWHO WE ARE Specializing in volume processing of herring and mackerel, our facility is equipped with state-of-the-art fish grading, filleting, and packaging equipment. Our product line includes fresh and frozen fillets, fresh and frozen bait, herring roe and pickled herring. Our frozen offerings go through plate-freezing or blast- freezing procedures thus ensuring that our freshly caught fish is frozen within the shortest time frames possible On-site ice making and cold storage allow us to maintain the highest quality seafood products for delivery to our valued customers around the world.We are committed to being the best in harvesting and processing seafood, period. This is the perfect opportunity if you are seeking a career in refrigeration with an organization where you can learn and grow.YOUR DAY: The day-to-day responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Assist in the operation and maintenance of the ammonia compressor room, plate freezers, blast freezer, ice plant, cooler and cold storage and all maintenance.
• Follow procedures for safely installing, inspecting, operating and maintaining the plant equipment in accordance with applicable governing acts and regulations;
• Checking mechanical equipment, i.e., controls, gauges, valves, and other components to ensure the plant operation is operating safely and efficiently;
• Assist plant operators in maintaining logbooks and records for inspections of any equipment in the plant.
• Assist in the replacement of equipment and costing, sourcing and installation of new equipment
• Other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

• Highschool Diploma
• Currently apprentice working towards refrigeration plant operator license or willing to obtain
• Secondary school focused in refrigeration or a similar trade preferred
• 1+ Year experience working refrigeration plant or similar environment considered an asset
• Ability to work on call to respond to alarms and emergency service
• Bilingual (English/French) considered an asset.
• Ability to triage multiple priorities effectively to address key issues first to successful resolution.
• Calm and steady under pressure, applying sound judgement and problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional troubleshooting skills with strong attention to detail.
• Valid driver’s license.
