Job Description

Lynn Lake ProjectAlamos Gold’s Lynn Lake project is one the highest-grade open pit gold deposits in Canada. The Lynn Lake project is located in northern Manitoba and consists of two primary sites, MacLellan and Gordon, which are just east of the Town of Lynn Lake. If you are willing to be part of a team that is dedicated to growth, high performance and a culture of safety and accountability, we would like to hear from you!Mine ManagerThe Mine Manager will be responsible for the mine operations department at the Gordon and McLellan sites. The Mine Manager will plan, administer and review the production activities of the mining operation to optimize resource use, minimize costs and maintain quality standards. The Mine Manager will inspire the mining team to create a safe, motivated and productive environment which leads to innovative continuous improvement.The successful candidate must have a strong focus on employee development to help achieve increased productivity and availability to maximize return on investment in compliance with corporate objectives. Additionally, this role is responsible for ensuring all of the SOPs, training and management plans are put in place for the safe operation of the sites.Job Responsibilities

  • Directs the formulation of mining production strategies, policies and plans
  • Manage the technical parameters of the mining sequence to ensure production schedules, labor and material input requirements meet output quantity, quality and timing specifications
  • Participates in the development of sound strategic plans and life of mine schedules
  • Coordinates the implementation of occupational health and safety requirements
  • Conducts research and applies new and improved methods and products to mine production
  • Oversees the acquisition and installation of new machinery
  • Monitors production costs and adjusts processes and resources to minimize costs
  • Controls the preparation of production records and reports
  • Ensure the safe operation of mining activities, and equipment, in line with Lynn Lake policy, procedures and Mine Management Plan
  • Achievement of budget cost and production targets
  • Maximize productivity and performance efficiency of the Mining operation
  • Promote the development of innovative solutions and continuous improvement to increase operational efficiency and reduce costs
  • Responsible for the training and management of production crews
  • Ensure clear communication of mine planning and production targets
  • Manage contractors to ensure allocation of resources in order to achieve production goals
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Bachelor Degree in Mine Engineering, Geology or a closely related field
  • Preferably registered or eligible from registration as a P.Eng/P.Geo in Manitoba
  • 10 years of post graduate mining experience or demonstrated operational management experience
  • 15+ years of overall mining experience
  • 5+ years supervisory/management experience
  • 3-5 years in a senior engineering or senior geology position
  • Previous experience as a Mine Manager preferred
  • Proven ability to lead a team to success
  • Additional desirable strengths with grade control, dilution, RC drilling, mine planning, blast movement management, management of voids, greenfields/brownfields and establishing a new fleet
  • Valid Driver #39;s License required
  • Experience with mine design software (i.e MS3D)
  • In depth understanding of open pit mining
  • Effective leadership to build a strong employee culture
  • Good work ethic and a strong attitude towards safety are essential requirements
  • Degree of assertiveness, ability to give direction and influence senior leaders and other key stakeholders
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills with all levels of the operation
  • Management of special projects and sub-contractors
  • Systems development , maintenance and implementation
  • Strong Contract Management skills
  • Ability to adapt to diverse cultures
  • Proven ability to lead a team to success
This position is based at the Lynn Lake Mine on a rotational work schedule (8x6x4x3). As a Manager,you will be required to manage your time on site effectively in line with the requirements of the job. Candidates must be able to maintain high levels of performance for extended shifts.
