Job Description

Kumsheen is looking for a Barista to join the Guest Experience Team and the rest of our team of energetic, adventurous, and friendly staff. This is a great opportunity to work & live in one of the most beautiful areas in BC, at an incredible family-run adventure resort.About the position:The Kumsheen Barista works out of the Coffee Bar in the Reception Office and under the direction of the Office Manager. The Reception Office is the heart of the Resort and the meeting place for all rafting and resort guests, so outstanding customer service and a pleasant atmosphere is essential. The Kumsheen Barista will be responsible for maintaining the Coffee Bar by providing snacks & beverages to guests, ensuring clean, beautiful food and retail displays, and assisting guests with basic questions. This social and dynamic department is perfect for those who love organization and attention to detail, enjoy meeting new people, and multitasking.Key Responsibilities include:

  • Regularly tidying and stocking retail displays, informing guests of rafting appropriate merchandise
  • Completing daily cash reconciliations
  • Welcoming guests, informing them about specials or new items, answering questions, and accepting orders and payments
  • Brewing coffee and tea, and crafting coffee and milk based beverages including lattes, cappuccinos, mochas, etc.
  • Baking muffins, scones, cookies, etc. and creating sandwiches and other similar items to sell in the Coffee Bar
  • Cleaning, restocking, taking inventory of food items, emptying trash and sanitizing equipment and utensils
  • Creating enticing displays for in the fridge, baked good counter, and behind the counter
  • Updating signage and displays to attract customers
  • Assisting answering rafting related questions and check-ins when needed

Job Requirements/Qualifications:Successful applicants will possess the following attributes:
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Attention to detail and the ability to multitask
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and composure under pressure
  • Previous retail store and/or barista experience is an asset
  • Baking experience an asset
  • FOODSAFE Level 1
  • Most importantly, a positive attitude!
