Job Description

The RoleThe Sanitation Team Member is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing food contact surfaces, equipment, and production areas to ensure compliance with the facility #39;s HACCP plan, GMP standards, and CFIA regulations. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the cleanliness, following established Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs).Responsibilities

  1. Sanitation and Cleaning:
  • Perform cleaning and sanitizing tasks for equipment, tools, and food contact areas according to SSOPs.
  • Ensure all cleaning meets HACCP, GMP, and CFIA standards for food safety and quality.
  • Follow proper cleaning protocols to prevent cross-contamination between RTE and NRTE areas.
SSOP Compliance:
  • Adhere to Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) for all tasks.
  • Use approved chemicals in the correct concentrations and apply them as per the SSOP guidelines.
  • Report any deviations from SSOPs or sanitation standards to the Sanitation Lead.
Pre-Operational Inspections:
  • Assist in pre-operational inspections of cleaned equipment and production areas.
  • Address any deficiencies identified during inspections to ensure readiness for production.
Documentation and Reporting:
  • Complete required sanitation logs and checklists accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Notify the Sanitation Lead of any equipment, chemical, or procedural issues.
Health and Safety:
  • Follow all safety procedures related to the use of cleaning chemicals and sanitation equipment.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly at all times.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace to minimize safety hazards.
Support Continuous Improvement:
  • Provide feedback to the Sanitation Lead on potential improvements to cleaning procedures or tools.
  • Participate in training sessions to stay updated on best practices and new protocols.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in a food manufacturing or sanitation role is an asset but not required.
  • Basic understanding of HACCP, GMP, and food safety principles is an asset.
  • Familiarity with cleaning chemicals and sanitation equipment preferred.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
  • Ability to follow instructions and adhere to strict protocols.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
Work Environment
  • Exposure to wet and cold environments typical of food manufacturing facilities.
  • Physical demands include standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, and operating cleaning equipment.
  • Must adhere to all personal protective equipment (PPE) and hygiene requirements.
