Job Description

Sandy Bay Child & Family Services Inc.invites applicants for aAbuse Coordinator Position – Main Office (Marius)Full-Time PositionSandy Bay Child & Family Services Inc. delivers comprehensive and coordinated child and family services to the community of Sandy Bay First Nation and band members living-on and off‑reserve. We provide both emergency and non-emergency interventions.Position Summary: The Abuse Coordinator is tasked with coordination of agency abuse investigations to serve the children, families, and the community of Sandy Bay First Nation. The Abuse Coordinator in collaboration with the Supervisor/Case Manager ensures that ongoing abuse investigations are being communicated and conducted in the most efficient manner possible. Core competencies for this position include communication, cultural competence, client focus, decision making, collaboration, organizational ability, and stress tolerance.Qualifications:

  • B.S.W., B.A., or Child & Family Services Diploma and/or equivalent combination of education and training/experience in a related field of service.
  • Minimum three years’ experience working in a child welfare setting and/or a related field of study.
  • Demonstrated skills in the areas of crisis intervention, child protection investigations, and assessing high risk situations which require immediate response.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and superintend workload in a team environment.
  • Knowledge and respect of First Nations traditional culture and traditional philosophy.
  • Knowledge of collateral services/community resources and how to access.
  • Knowledge of Provincial Legislation and Standards, Child & Family Services Act, and Child and Family Services Information System/Intake Module (CFSIS/IM).
  • Must pass a Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, and Child Abuse Registry Check.
  • A valid Province of Manitoba Class 5 Drivers License and access to a personal vehicle is required.
  • The ability to speak and/or understand the Ojibway Language is considered an asset.
