If you are committed and collaborative professional looking to contribute to a hard-working, innovative team, this opportunity is for you.Canadian Base Operators is seeking a dynamic highly motivated individual to fulfil the position of Maintenance Activities Manager located in Meaford at the 4th Canadian Division Training Centre. This position is responsible for the co-ordination and management of a multi trade department delivering maintenance services for all Vehicles, Weapon Systems, Communications/Electronics equipment and other support equipment maintenance and Facilities maintenance including repair of buildings utilities, infrastructure. This position also has oversight of engineering/construction projects, property management and subcontractor liaison and oversight. The position typically reports directly to the Meaford Site Manager.Please forward your application prior to close of business December 16, 2022Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • The Maintenance Activities Manager will report directly to the CBO Site Manager and will join a dynamic team committed to providing outstanding service to our client at Meaford.
  • The Maintenance Activities Manager will lead a team of certified vehicle mechanics, including heavy equipment mechanics; building trades journeypersons; apprentices; other specialists; planner/scheduler; Real Property specialist; and administrative staff.
  • Directly supervise the performance of the section supervisors and key support staff to ensure compliance with contractual requirements, and CBO policies and procedures. The Maintenance Activities Manager is responsible for all departmental functions and performance.
  • Ensuring correct and factual documentation is recorded, filed, or transmitted as required by DND and/or CBO.
  • Actioning, supervising, researching, and advising senior management in all matters including training, discipline, tasking, staffing and position rating.
  • Controlling the quality of the services provided by their organizations by monitoring actual performance against planned performance and taking or recommending appropriate corrective actions as required to achieve essential contract performance standards, other assigned objectives, and financial targets.
  • Coordinating activities with other team managers to ensure maximum customer satisfaction as efficiently as possible. Determining work priorities and coordinating scheduling for repair, corrective, and preventive maintenance work orders to ensure continuous operations.
  • Monitoring the Preventive Maintenance Program in conjunction with work management staff.
  • Reviewing maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities.
  • Identifying projects for long range planning.
  • Assist and coordinate with DND special, construction, engineering projects and additional work requests from quote stage through to completion and billing.
  • Planning, developing and implementing methods, procedures and strategies focused on enhanced operations.
  • Effective utilization of labour, materials and resources.
  • Direct the training of workers to improve work performance, technical knowledge, safety awareness and acquaint workers with company policies and procedures and administer compliance.
  • Ensure compliance of their department with CBO Administrative, Quality, Environmental, and Health & Safety management systems.
  • Provide leadership competencies to all departmental staff.
  • Provide support through coaching and development, maximizing business performance, maximizing team effectiveness and strategic perspectives.
  • Ensure all subcontractors comply with the CBO Subcontractor Management Plan; ensure their performance is monitored; ensure quotes are vetted and are reasonable. Review reports on subcontractor performance.
  • Liaise with CBO Site Services Management Team to develop plans and budgets, monitor performance and resolve problems.
  • Fulfil the duties of Maintenance Activity Manager in accordance with DND policies and directives. Liaise with DND technical authorities and attend DND conferences and working groups, as required.
  • Be responsive to the contract Project Authority (and designates), with responsibility and authority to represent CBO as determined by the Site Manager.
  • Promote positive relationships, close interdepartmental cooperation and communication with CBO and client staff. Attend required meetings and be proactive with prevention and resolution of problems.
  • Act as Duty Manager on a rotational basis.
  • All CBO employees are subject to emergency call-in, as determined by DND operational requirements.
  • Take care, custody and control of all CBO issued items i.e., cell phone, laptop.
  • Perform other assigned tasks, as required.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Post-secondary education in a related field
  • Extensive related work experience

  • Knowledge of contract interpretation/management
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • 3-5 years of related experience in automotive
AND/OR
  • 3-5 years of trades
AND/OR
  • 3-5 years operations related experience
SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTSProficient knowledge and understanding of:
  • Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Teams
  • Working hours will be 40 hours per week Monday to Friday
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal direction
