JOB TITLE: LPN Resource Nurse Site: Meadow Ridge Seniors VillageFTE: 0.70 - Days/Evenings Hours of Work: 0730-1500/1430-2130Rotation: Week 1 -Monday, Tuesday (evenings) Friday, Saturday, Sunday (days) Week 2 - Wednesday, Thursday (evenings)JOB SUMMARY:Under the supervision of the Care Manager, the Resource Nurse’s role is to support processes including Appropriate Use of Antipsychotics (AUA), Wound Care Management, Resident Admissions, Care Conferences, and general nursing procedures.The Resource Nurse supports Wound Management processes on the floors, completes dressing changes and ensures wound tracking is up to date and current. The Resource Nurse coordinates annual and post move-in care conferences with Residents, families/legal representatives and appropriate team members. The Resource Nurse supports all care areas with new move-ins and assists the floor nurses with clinical procedures such as catheterizations, etc. In the event of a nurse shortage, the Resource Nurse will be relied upon to cover the floors and provide direct frontline care. The Resource Nurse will coach and empower floor nurses as needed regarding clinical procedures and processes.TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Collaborates with members of the interdisciplinary team, to ensure effective, consistent, and comprehensive Resident centered care.2. Acts as a role model by demonstrating professionalism, empathy, trust and respect in all interpersonal relationships, and recognizes personal impact on team dynamics.3. Documents assessments, records of observations, care provision and Resident responses according to professional standards and Park Place Seniors Living policies and procedures.4. Contributes to quality of care and safety assurance and improvement by participating in Park Place Home committees.5. Participate in quality improvement/performance measurement initiatives and processes.SKILLS AND ABILITIES:• Ability to communicate fluently in English, both verbally and written.• Ability to demonstrate effective problem solving, decision making and critical thinking skills.• Demonstrates the ability to collaborate as a team, working together in achieving shared goals and desired outcomes.• Demonstrates the ability to effectively establish professional working relationships with Residents, their families, and as a member of the care team aiming for excellence in resident care.• Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively with Residents, families, the public, medical staff, and other members of the interdisciplinary team. The ability to intervene effectively to resolve conflict, manage stressful situations and work pressure.• Demonstrates effective applicable computer skills.HEALTH AND SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:• Responsible for reading, understanding, and complying with Park Place Seniors Living #39;s and provincially mandated Occupational Health and Safety policies and safe work practices.• Demonstrates leadership in all aspects of the Health and Safety Program including:• Role modelling safe work procedures.• Promotes health and safety policy and awareness.• Makes safety suggestions.• Responsible to take every reasonable precaution to protect the safety of Residents, self, other employees, and the public.• Reports any near miss, injury, and accident or equipment damage to supervisor immediately and completes required reports.• Corrects and/or reports unsafe conditions.• Leads by setting a good example.QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:Graduate from an approved nursing program and one to two years of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.Maintains active registration with applicable provincial regulatory body.Please submit your resume and covering letter by email to our Site Leader Carla Spanier at cspanier@ppsl.com.
