Job Description

Locations: 1. Family Practice Medical Centre, Mississauga, Ontario2. Long Term Care Facility, Toronto, OntarioFamily Physician at established large Medical Centre located in Mississauga Ontario and Medical Director of Long Term Care Facility located in North York,is seeking a skilled Medical Assistant to join his team. The successful candidate will work directly with the medical director, assisting in providing exceptional care to patients at both locations. This position is ideal for a candidate who is an internationally trained physician, preferably with experience in family medicine and geriatrics, who can boost their candidacy process of licensure in Ontario. Minimum one year commitment.Scope of Duties at Family Practice Clinic Centre:

  • Perform routine clinical tasks, including taking patient histories, vital signs, and preparing patients for examinations working concurrently with the family doctor’s existing assistant
  • Preparing for the Doctor to perform procedures such as wound care, injections.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records (EMR) for patients.
  • Completion of progress notes in EMR on behalf of Family Doctor.
  • Following up with patients, providing normal results and general patient counseling
  • Assisting and rounding with doctor to seek best treatment plans and consultants
  • Assisting with completion of paperwork
Scope of Duties at Term Care Facility:
  • Prepare for morning rounds by organizing patient charts and reviewing doctor #39;s communications prior to doctor #39;s arrival and be prepared to discuss issues.
  • Accompany Family Doctor during rounds, assisting with patient assessments and documentation.
  • Complete medical progress notes promptly and accurately on behalf of Family Doctor.
  • Communicate with nursing staff and other healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care.
  • Assist in the coordination of resident care plans, and care conferences, provide updates as needed.
  • Help coordinate with University teaching, preparing for medical and resident rounds

Days and Hours of Commitment: MississaugaMedical Centre: Mondays 2pm-8pm, Thursdays 8-3pmToronto Long Term Care Facility: Tuesdays 9:30am-2:30pmPotential Salary: Competitive; starting 25 dollars per hour with ability to increase salary based on productivity and performance Qualifications:
  • An internationally trained physician, preferably with experience in family medicine and geriatrics.
  • Applicant desires scaling clinical and university affiliations and operations
  • Trained RN or RPN with history in geriatrics or primary care will be considered based on applicant
  • May be In the process of obtaining licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).
  • Ability to expeditiously complete medical progress notes on the same day.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in EMR Platforms: Oscar Pro and Point Click Care
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Punctuality, reliability, and a high level of professionalism.
