YMCA of Quebec4335 Avenue de Hampton, Montréal, QC,Montréal,QCAnimator Teen ZoneSalary 15.00 $ per hour18.00 to 35.0 h - Part timeContract , Seasonal jobDay , Evening shift workJoin our dynamic team for exciting new challenges while interacting with young people!Under the supervision of the youth program coordinator, in collaboration with the intervention team, the candidate's mandate will be to lead and develop workshops and activities for youth 12 to 17 years old.Through these activities, the animator ensures that the mission of the Youth Zone (To offer a multitude of opportunities for young people to develop their full potential and to flourish in a welcoming, healthy and supervised environment) is followed. Thus, he (she) establishes and maintains positive relationships with the participants while ensuring that they have an enriching experience at the YMCA.RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, organize, animate and evaluate activities that meet the objectives of the Youth Zone
  • Ensure compliance with the regulations of the Youth Zone
  • Stimulate and encourage young people to participate in activities
  • Act as a resource person for youth
  • Help youth create bonds between themselves; valuing respect, mutual help and sharing
  • Create a welcoming and safe environment for all participants
  • Help foster youth's growth and development
  • Promote the development of a sense of belonging for the participants in the activities of the Youth Zone
  • Ensure constant collaboration within the intervention team
  • Maintain open communication with YMCA West Island staff
  • Understand and integrate the value of philanthropy within their position and in the association
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education completed or in progress in the following fields: animation, special care counseling, social work, recreational intervention or any other related field;
  • Have a minimum of one year of facilitation experience with youth aged 12 to 17;
  • Excellent ability to communicate orally in English and French;
  • Have an interest in issues related to youth such as: youth leadership, youth community participation, youth empowerment
  • Have a great sense of responsibility and maintain high ethical standards;
  • Understand and adhere to the values and mission of the YMCA and the Youth Zone;
  • A criminal record check will be conducted prior to hire;
  • Assets:
  • Have a certification in first aid and CPR;
To be eligible to participate in the CSJ initiative, individuals must:
  • Be between the ages of 15 and 30 at the start of employment;
  • Be Canadian citizens, permanent residents or designated as refugees under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act;
  • And be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with the applicable statutory provisions of the province or territory.
