Job Description

Group Account ExecutiveThe Group Account Executive is responsible for driving profitable net growth of group benefits business within a defined territory. Leveraging their knowledge of group insurance, strong consultative selling, relationship management, communication and negotiation skills, they will develop solid, long-term relationships with Distribution Partners and nurture these relationships to the mutual benefit of the Distribution Partners and Empire Life.The incumbent works with the broader Group Distribution Team, and has functional reporting to Director, Sales Practice and general reporting to one or more Regional Vice Presidents.Impact Statement

  • Drive profitable net sales growth of block of business through the development of new business and renewal of inforce block
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with distribution partners by initiating new business opportunities and effectively communicating the Empire Life value proposition
  • Adhere to activity management practices and effectively employ strategic account management principles to achieve objectives
  • Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that acquisition and retention goals are met
Responsibilities include
  • Relationship and client management with Distribution Partners within defined block of business
  • Identify, build and manage new strategic relationships with Distribution Partners
  • Effectively communicate Empire Life value proposition to Distribution Partners, and provide training and education on our products, services and solutions
  • Develop, implement and monitor territory sales business plan to meet or exceed annual financial objectives
  • Effectively perform functions related to activity based management related to new business, renewals, service escalations and ongoing account management
  • Ensure timely, regular and complete documentation is updated in sales automation tool
  • Effectively manage subsidy on new business and renewals within defined parameters to drive net sales growth; review monthly with internal stakeholders
  • Demonstrate integrity, leadership, and a customer centric approach
  • Be a supportive team member and share subject matter expertise
Knowledge / Experience / Certification
  • 5+ years work experience in insurance/financial services industry in group benefits
  • Strong knowledge of group benefits underwriting principles and financial management, policy provisions, benefits and plan taxation, administrative provisions, claims practices, government legislation and benefits technology developments
  • Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, email, internet, CRM and database software
  • Knowledge of the group insurance industry and sales activities of competitors
  • GBA designation completed within first two years of employment / CEBS an asset
  • Valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle is required
Education / Professional Courses
  • Completion of a university degree
