Job Description

DescriptionGénome Québec is a private non-profit organization with a 21-year history. Our organization supports the genomics sector, funds research projects and provides researchers with cutting-edge services and technology. We work closely with the scientific community, universities and the private sector.Génome Québec is seeking applications for a bio-informatician for its Centre d’expertise et de services (CES) located at CHU Sainte-Justine. The selected candidate will respond to the needs of internal and external users related to bio-informatic analysis of genomic data.Workplace : Montreal (Qc)Responsabilities

  • Develop and launch next generation analysis pipelines for sequencing data
  • Stay abreast of new data analysis pipelines
  • Keep up to date the analysis pipelines under production
  • Support the operations/users of CES by responding to their data analysis needs
  • Recommend improvements to the standards, models and tools used
  • Be very open-minded to understand the different points made by the development team and internal and external users
  • Ensure the use of configurable solutions to facilitate the development of the pipelines
  • Have excellent knowledge of Nanuq to propose solutions that are compatible or that integrate well with existing functionalities
  • Support CES users by answering their questions on bio-informatics issues
  • Ensure the proper documentation of bioinformatics pipelines under production
  • Develop training material
  • Be available to help the development team
Qualifications
  • Master of Science or Bachelor of Bioinformatics or equivalent
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience, with two (2) in genomics
  • Development experience with Python and Perl
  • Bilingual – The working language at Génome Québec is French
