This role will appeal to a “highly motivated”, educated, certified Health and Safety professional who is passionate about supporting and driving a culture of safety within the industrial & construction industry.Reporting to the Regional Vice President and working in cooperation with our Corporate Health & Safety Manager, the H&S Coordinator will assist management in developing policies, guidelines and standards to support OH&S in our Quebec branches that include Montreal, Quebec City, Alma QC. This challenging position involves both construction and service industries.Role Responsibilities

  • Supervise the accident investigation program ensuring accurate information and identifying root causes.
  • Work closely with branches to address issues and closure of corrective action identified during inspection and incident reports.
  • Ensure that appropriate corrective measures are provided for unsafe conditions and unsafe acts.
  • Support JHSC committees at branches by communicating corporate procedures, coaching, training, and follow up on issues related to health and safety.
  • Conduct Inspections for site and branch locations, audits the effectiveness of the H&S systems that are in place, identifies gaps in the systems and recommends solutions.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of workplace inspections completed.
  • Assists with internal & external HSE audits
  • Ensure that training matrix is compliant and provide new hire orientation, refresher and job specific training to all employees and arrange external trainers when required.
  • Maintains statistics regarding health and safety incidents and accidents. Analyzes statistics to determine trends as well as advise on proactive solutions.
  • Researches, drafts, recommends and implements Health and Safety policies, procedures, and programs at jobsite and branch level.
Required Professional Knowledge, Skills & QualificationsEducation:
  • Diploma or Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety from an accredited college or university.
  • Completion of industry-specific program of study in Occupational Health and Safety – NCSO or equivalent is preferred, CRSP preferred.
  • COR Auditing experience preferred
Experience:A minimum of 5 or more years of full time experience as an OH&S practitioner in the construction and/or industrial industry, which includes:
  • Delivering Health and Safety Training
  • Conducting workplace audits and inspections
  • Investigating Incidents
  • Implementing and managing OH&S programs.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of health and Safety Acts and Regulations for the applicable jurisdictions.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of workplace injury incident investigation and claims management.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to coach, develop and facilitate health and safety programs and policies.
  • Effective presentation Skills
  • Experience with COR program
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the following procedures/programs: Lockout-Tagout practices , Confined Space Assessment and Entry, Electrical Safe Work/Arc Flash.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, presentation and writing skills
  • Bilingual (English & French)
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Power Point. SAP experience would be an asset.
  • Familiarity with third party safety prequalification programs such as ISNetworld, Browz, and Cognibox preferred.
