You might also be called on to help investment consultants on other types of institutional clients, such as sponsors and trustees of defined benefit pension funds, endowments, and other institutional asset pools.What is in it for you

We will count on you to:
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis utilizing Mercer proprietary tools;
  • Produce quarterly performance monitoring reports for clients;
  • Critically analyze different investment markets, managers investment styles, and portfolio characteristics to evaluate the performance of investment managers, and determine the impact of these factors on returns;
  • Play an important role in investment manager searches, provider searches, plan design, plan governance reviews and other ad-hoc investment-related projects;
  • Closely support consultants in servicing existing clients and prospects;
  • Develop knowledge around the concept of financial wellness and ESG factors;
  • Communicate with investment managers, record keepers and custodians to gather and/or clarify client-specific data for reporting;
  • Develop the knowledge and skills required to allow progression to a senior associate role;
  • Demonstrate professionalism and effectiveness when dealing with clients and colleagues at all levels;
  • Represent and promote the “face” of Mercer, both internally and externally.
What makes you stand out:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, actuarial studies, or related discipline;
  • Enrollment in the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program is considered an asset;
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in investment consulting, financial services or pension environment working in an analyst capacity is preferred;
  • Good knowledge of the DC environment;
  • Solid knowledge of the institutional investment industry, understanding of investment concepts and the financial markets;
  • Strong communication skills (both written and oral, in English and French);
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail;
  • Ability to multi-task, work under tight deadlines and demonstrate problem solving skills;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills;
  • Proactive and independent;
  • Motivated and willing to learn;
  • Overall good technical skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office, with a high proficiency in Excel.
