An agile focused delivery model is driving a need for faster delivery. A key role in achieving better speed of delivery is the one of Mobile Release Manager (MRM). The MRM will oversee release activities for the My Sun Life app and Lumino Health App on 3 different platforms: middleware, App Store (iOS), and Google Play (Android).The MRM owns the Release Management lifecycle. It includes scheduling, coordinating and management of releases for the Mobile teams across multiple applications and portfolios. The releases can consist in app updates, security improvements, upgrades, projects and programs. They provide services and tools to help platform and product teams deploy their code in production.The MRM manages the release process through development, test, and production. They work with all stakeholders in mobile app initiatives and support them. They suggest ideas to improve our engineering processes. They adopt agile and continuous improvement practices for building, deploying, and updating our mobile apps.The MRM support releases on a weekly basis. They are responsible for the continuous improvement of our release process, by identifying bottlenecks and complexities. They define more efficient solutions and tools, and ensure their buy-in, approval and deployment.What you will do

• Be accountable for the successful planning of mobile releases, from scope definition to production implementation. Chair weekly meetings with all stakeholders. Identify action items and blocking issues. Ensure respective owners take care of them.
• Build and track a release calendar in partnership with change management
• Coordinate work on release-day and take care of any last-minute problems
• Share progress with executives, test & development managers, operations, and mobile agile teams.
• The MRM must manage up, provide reporting and share updates to senior IT management and lines of business.
• Build a consistent mobile app release process.
• Help with coordination across multiple teams.
• Create and measure key performance metrics for releases.
• Create common standards for release playbooks. Work with operations to facilitate decision-making. Define mechanisms for rollbacks
• Identify gaps and work with release and DevOps experts to improve our release process

What you need to succeed

• +5 years relevant work experience
• +3 years working in a SDLC and/or ITIL delivery process
• Expert of Enterprise methodologies, such as ITIL (2+ years experience) or CMMI.
• +2 years managing releases for mobile and web applications
• Mobile knowledge on iOS & Android, including App Store and Google Play releases is an asset.
• Excellent collaboration and presentation skills (written, verbal)
• Experience in creating new processes and practices, with strategies to turn them into reality.
• Proven ability to earn the trust of sponsors and key stakeholders
• Intermediate level in change management skills
• A product mindset, with the right mix of business and technical skills
• Comfortable with new technologies or business

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.
