He or she will support the attorneys in their day-to-day operations, manage the legal team’s communications, maintain client files up-to-date, support in the preparation of departmental reports, prepare support documents, acts as the liaison between the legal department and various stakeholders.ResponsibilitiesDrafting legal documents including deposition notices, certifications, contracts, briefs, complaints, subpoenas, motions, and pleadings.Conducting legal research into case law, and interviewing clients and witnesses.Creating summaries of depositions and testimonies.Organizing and maintaining legal files.Filing documents with any applicable court systems.Helping prepare for trial by organizing exhibits and assisting with other tasks as needed.Investigating facts and laws of cases and searching public records and other resources to prepare cases and determine causes of action.Maintaining a library of clauses and legal concepts.The paralegal will provide support to the Nakisa attorneys with respect to local and global legal operations.Collect, examine, and organize internal records and documents for review by an attorney.Monitor deadlines relating to a transaction, RFP’s, legal cases, or other.Ensure that requests submitted to the legal department are in accordance with the defined procedures.Ensure and follow up with internal stakeholders with regards to pending matters, questions, clarifications, or approvals needed by attorneys.Ensure that contract information or legal department information is entered into the relevant internal database.Communicate and coordinate activities needed to complete a transaction with internal stakeholders.Proofread correspondence and legal documents.Draft and prepare letters, memos, and other communications internal or external.Support internal lawyers to assist them with the closing of transactions and other legal matters.Manage, organize, and maintain documents in paper or electronic filing systems.Draft letters and memos in accordance with the instructions of an attorney relating to various aspects of the business.Participate in process improvement efforts and internal committees related thereto.Take meeting minutes and update the internal records.Provide support to lawyers to apply Nakisa's policies and procedures within the legal department and between departments.Support the legal department in areas relating to the coordination and management of escrow accounts, account receivables, invoice payments, purchase orders, and others.Communicate with Nakisa vendors such as escrow agents, a legal entity registered agents, government offices, and others.QualificationsCertified paralegalExperience as a paralegal for a minimum of 3 years.Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken).Excellent organizational skills.Must be highly autonomous, adapt quickly to change.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.Good to haveFrench (an asset)Spanish (an asset).Experience in a software company or rapidly growing company (strong asset).
