As such, you will get to work in a highly motivated team that values excellence, hard work and team work.ARE YOU OUR HIDDEN GEMReporting to the Manager, Creative Studio, the Photographer – Retoucher is responsible for building and maintaining the photographic and retouching standards for all brands under Birks Group Inc. They will be responsible for all the product Ecommerce photography for Bijoux Birks, and for 360 editorial content for Maison Birks and Bijoux Birks.To do so, the photographer-retoucher will be excepted to...

  • Support the Manager, Creative Studio, in their tasks, and work with them to develop and present creative artwork that respects the brands strategic creative platform.
  • Maintaining the photography calendar of photoshoots and ensuring timely delivery of assets.
  • Stay up to date on photography and retouching best practice while improving and streamlining processes.
  • Ensure that the archiving of sessions, selections and final images is consistent and organized.
  • Ensure optimal technical quality.
  • Knowledge of photographic techniques such as lighting and composition, etc. with a focus on product photography and a keen eye for visual aesthetics
  • Coordinate with appropriate teams regarding merchandise transfers for Photoshoots.
For E-Commerce product shots:
  • Video, photograph, and retouch e-commerce products in accordance with brand guidelines.
  • Make the selection of photos/video for online commerce under the supervision of the Manager, Creative Studio.
  • Manage and maintain computer records/photo bank with files that are clearly titled, archived and accessible to multiple teams.
  • Prepare ecommerce image files for web and social/digital usage.
  • Go through validation of photos with appropriate team members prior to delivery of final files.
  • Plan ecommerce on-model photoshoots: finding/booking models, makeup-artist, etc, under the supervision of the Manager, Creative Studio, in accordance with allocated budget.
For Editorial shoots:
    • Work alongside Manager, Creative Studio on all editorial photoshoots
    • Respect moodboards and visual branding direction set forth for photoshoots.
    • Go through validation of photos with appropriate team members prior to delivery of final files.
    • Build and maintain photography guidelines for each brand as the process evolves.
    • Help with sourcing props as needed
Our ideal candidate has...
  • Photography courses or equivalent work experience
  • 2-5 years experience in a photo studio setting.
  • Highly skilled at retouching jewellery.
  • Experience working with Canon Equipment (5d Mark 4)
  • Experience with video/photography/retouching of jewellery or macro photography.
  • Advanced knowledge/experience of Adobe Photoshop.
  • Experience with full Adobe Suite is an asset.
  • Excellent understanding of Capture One.
  • Experience with Edelkrone equipment is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of photo and lighting equipment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft programs (Outlook, Excel, Word)
