ResponsibilitiesThe Control framework at SG has been significantly enhanced through a recent Group-wide Program (“PCT Program”). It focuses mainly on non-financial risks (regulatory, operational…) to which the Group is exposed. The aim of this framework is to control these risks which, should they materialize, would have a significant impact on the financial situation and/or reputation of the Group, or an entity of the Group.Within this framework, Level 1 Controls contribute to containing all non-financial risks at the level accepted in the Group's risk appetite.The control activities making up Level 1 Control can thus be defined as any combination of actions and/or measures likely to limit the probability of occurrence of a non-financial risk or to reduce its consequences for the company.Day-to-Day Responsibilities:In this context, the Regional Control Coordinator will play a central role in coordinating actions related to the Level 1 Control (“L1C”) framework across the multiple Business Units and Service Units present in the Americas – mainly Brazil, Canada and the USA.The Regional Control Coordinator will interface on a frequent basis with the Americas Permanent Control Manager, part of the Risk department (2nd line of defense) as well as with the community of “L1C Relays”, who are single points of contact for L1C matters in each of the Business and Service Units in the region. Communication with Control experts in Paris regarding methodology, processes and tools will also be regular.The main roles and responsibilities of the position can be classified as follows:L1C framework coordination, L1C Relay support and training resourceIs a central resource in the Americas to help ensure the framework is implemented in a standard way and in alignment with SG Group standards/methodologies, across the region accounting for differences between countries, Business and Service units.Provides assistance to operational managers and “L1C Relays” in each Business and Support Unit regarding the design of Level 1 controls and provides support in the definition of the most appropriate forms of control to maintain risk at the accepted level.Offers guidance, assistance and training with the Control framework artefacts (documentation, tools, indicators…).Promotes structuring principles (Group and local) as well as best practices related to the 1st level of control framework.Drives awareness campaigns among employees and managers on the performance of controls when necessary.Is an escalation point for issues, questions or any other matter regarding the Control framework that need to be raised or escalated.Maintenance of the L1C frameworkCoordinates the validation from each head of Business and Service Unit of the scope of Activities and Level 1 controls (“blueprints”).Monitors on a monthly basis changes to Activities and Level 1 controls (“blueprints”) for each Business and Service Units, obtains justifications for such changes from stakeholders and documents an audit trail.Continuous improvement of the Control frameworkParticipates to the change management around the Control framework setup whenever necessary (project delivery, evolution of the framework, SG Group norms and standards updates…).Governance of the Control framework in the AmericasHelps with the preparation of the monthly Operational Permanent Control Committee with attendance from representatives from all Business and Support Units in all covered countries and contributes to its documentation (agenda, minutes…).Helps with the preparation of the quarterly Control Committee that presents results, findings and recommendations to Americas senior management with the objective to provide them with the necessary information to monitor and steer risk mitigations.Participates to the preparation of the SICCC (Supervisory Internal Control Coordination Committee) presentation that the AMER CEO gives to SG Group General Management once a year.Monitoring and production of indicatorsContributes to monitoring the deployment of standard and specific controls in the region.In charge of producing the necessary monitoring indicators, producing context analysis, collecting facts from stakeholders and following-up on issues when relevant.Activity reportingContributes to the production of dashboards and analysis regarding the results of Level 1 controls on a quarterly basis.Follows-up on corrective measures for anomalies and issues highlighted by Level 1 controls and ensures action plans are implemented.Periodically reports on the progress of action plans.Collects all information necessary to prepare reports required to be provided to SG Group management on the Control framework in the region to prepare the Quarterly Certification report.Collects and consolidates the inventory of staff and budget allocated to risk management, compliance and control management and prepares reports required to be provided to SG group management on an annual basis.Profile requiredCompetencies:Verbal and written communication for understanding project requirements and explaining these needs to employees and third-party providersAttention to detail to ensure all specifications are metProblem-solving abilities to correct any challenges or inefficiencies for the best resultsDecisiveness and good judgment to address pressing project matters when time is limitedOrganization and time management to manage multiple tasks, sometimes for multiple projects, at onceLeadership and motivation to guide team members in making consistent progressGoal setting to set realistic deadlines and strategize daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly progressTechnical Skills & Knowledge:Strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)Good Project Management skillsQualifications (Experience, Education, Languages):2+ years in investment banking industryBachelor’s degreeEnglish language required, French a plus but optionalBusiness insightAt Societe Generale, we live by our 4 core values of commitment, responsibility, team spirit and innovation.
