Job Description

Senior Procurement Advisor (Forestry / Wood) This is a fantastic opportunity to join a highly dynamic team in Energy Procurement for our client in the mining industry. Based in Montréal, this role requires three days in the office per week when not traveling and involves considerable travel, primarily to operations in Thurso, Québec, and the surrounding region. Play a key role in advancing biomass initiatives and driving decarbonization efforts in a fast-paced, sustainability-focused environment.What is in it for you:• Salaried: $75 to $79 per hour.• Incorporated Business Rate: $84 to $88 per hour.• 12-month contract.• Full-time position: 37.50 hours per week.• Presence required in the office three days per week when not traveling.• Considerable travel required, primarily to Thurso, Québec, and surrounding areas.• Join a passionate and inclusive team of professionals.Responsibilities:• Manage biomass purchases, including strategy development, market data analysis, and business strategy recommendations.• Develop subject matter expertise in woody fiber and biomass solutions, enhancing team capability and credibility.• Execute procurement processes in alignment with best practices and organizational governance requirements.• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and strategic suppliers to optimize value delivery and innovation.• Embed a robust approach to safety, security, risk, and change management across assigned responsibilities.• Engage with the market to develop expertise in biomass markets, understanding key commercial drivers.• Collaborate with geographically dispersed teams, requiring flexibility in working hours across different time zones.• Travel regularly, primarily to operations in Thurso, Québec, and the surrounding region.What you will need to succeed:• Bachelor’s degree in forestry or equivalent field, or 10+ years of experience in biomass supply operations.• Strong knowledge of forestry principles, practices, and regulations in Québec/Canada.• Expertise in negotiation, procurement, and contract management.• Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) with the ability to learn new software programs.• Detail-oriented mindset for accurate data collection and reporting.• Bilingual in English and French to effectively negotiate contracts, liaise with local suppliers, and engage with stakeholders in both languages.• Excellent written and verbal communication skills• Passion for sustainability and willingness to develop expertise in renewable markets.• Strong commitment to safety and sustainability.• Willingness to commute to the Montréal-based office three days per week when not traveling.• Willingness to travel, primarily to Thurso, Québec, and surrounding areas.Why Recruit ActionRecruit Action (agency permit: AP-2000003) provides recruitment services through quality support and a personalized approach to job seekers and businesses.
