This position is based in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. It is a term contract for one year, with the possibility of renewal.Position Summary:Provide for the planning, development, implementation and maintenance of information systems policies and programs required to maximize unit effectiveness, respond to the needs of students and staff, and support the University's mission of teaching and research. Provide services related to business application, infrastructure and operations, customer support, information security including instructional development, help desk support for students, staff, faculty and the delivery of Information Technology (IT) training workshops for the University community. Develop and implement information system strategies that support the needs of the University. Integrate information systems strategy and policy with the unit planning processPrimary Responsibilities:Provides lab support by responding to software, hardware and network-related requests by staff and students.Performs general lab upkeep, such as cabling, peripheral replacements, equipment re-allocation, etc.Performs general health checks on hardware (speed, functionality, warranties, security, upgrades, etc.) and software (licensing, security updates, feature updates, general health checks).Recommends suitable hardware and software for labs. Performs repairs and troubleshooting.Responsible for area access management. Responds to physical lab access requests and configures access.Sets up group policies to automate tasks such as licensing, security settings, user profiles space allocation, software and hardware settings.Automates software updates and upgrades (using Ansible, Chocolatey) and deploys operating systems (using SCCM, Clonedeploy and/or fog)Maintains IT inventory (Snipe-IT – updates the server and inventory that it manages; updates Network Communications Services so that changes are included in Zark).Maintains the labs’ Active Directory structure and sets it up accordingly.Responsible for licence management. Checks license validity for software (Keil, Matlab, Labview) and maintains the license server (LMTools and other licensing options).Other Qualifying Skills and/or AbilitiesDEC or university degree in Computing Support, Microcomputer and Networking Systems, Network Administration, Programmer Analyst or related field.Experience in systems administration and providing user support to academics and students.Experience with Dell Workstations and monitors, Linux, Windows 10, MS Office, Matlab, Labview, keil, other programs as requested by professors.Ability to meet the objectives of the unit in delivering quality and efficient customer service and assistance in a timely manner. Proactive approach to problem solving.
