Job Description

An excellent career opportunity exists in our Corporate & Specialty Risk department for a bilingual Underwriting Technical Associate in our downtown Montreal or Toronto location. Acting “team lead” when required, supporting the Manager, in this position, you will play a meaningful role in supporting our Underwriting teams that are driven every single day to think bigger, do better for our customers, and achieve desired results. In this role, you will support and provide assistance to the Corporate & Specialty Risk underwriters in the processing of commercial policies and various underwriting transactions within assigned authority including new, renewal business and endorsement transactions. You will assist the underwriting teams processing documents including providing administrative and clerical support for underwriters when needed.ValuesIndividually we are people, but together we are Aviva. Individually these are just words, but together they are our Values – Care, Commitment, Community, and Confidence.CareBuilding a better Aviva for our customers through supporting and growing our people and speaking up if something isn’t right.CommitmentAlways delivering on our promises, taking accountability and ownership for what we do and learning as we go to be better every day.CommunityWorking together to make Aviva brilliant and more inclusive for our customers, colleagues, shareholders, and society.ConfidenceUsing our experience and expertise to shape an even stronger Aviva for today and tomorrow.What You'll DoThis role will start off as work from home, gradually you will be required to work in the Toronto or Montreal office location.Working both as a team and autonomously while ensuring target dates are met as part of a remote team is crucial to the success of this role.Assisting underwriters in logging new submissions, processing declinatures while completing filing of underwriting documents.Responding to broker service requests on behalf of underwriting as well as following up on information needed from brokers on behalf of underwriting.Data entry in legacy RTM system, RTG system and client relationship management Salesforce.com system while updating manual tracking documents.Accurate and timely processing of coding and policy issuance in a manual and automated environment while working with UnderwritersCompleting pricing tools, rating model preparation, updating terms and renewal administration for UW – accounts as agreed with Line LeadResponsible for assigned sophisticated new business and renewal P&C accounts as the lead associate supporting the UW who owns the accountSupporting Underwriting when required on new business by sending quotes to brokers, completion of account lapsing and declinations (risks outside of appetite), COI’s and binders to brokers within assigned authorityLoss control and risk management UW support processes in support of standard methodology within underwriting processesMonthly and weekly P&C SLA reporting to Manager including process actions identified, remediation action taken and expected outcomesAccurate and timely monthly P&C broker billing accounting reconciliation to final resolution including process actions, remediation and escalation action working collaboratively with Aviva partners.Peer to peer audit, reporting and remediation actions identified and raised to ManagerActing “team lead” when required responsible for supporting the UA team producing reports, presentation and information summaries as required including special projects as assigned.What You'll BringCompletion of a related educational degree/diploma and/or accreditation.Experience working in an underwriting environment is preferred.Ideal candidate is financially literate, has 2-3+ years’ experience in an administrative and support function with strong problem-solving skills and able to effectively deliver on competing asks.Bilingualism ( french and english ) is requiredOutstanding organization and time-management skills with the ability to adapt in a dynamic, priority-changing environment is critical for success in this role.You will need to be confident and comfortable with self-directed learning and able to manage a healthy level of autonomy while being accountable to various teams for the responsibilities of your role.Excellent technical aptitude with web and DOS based systems and databases; high proficiency in Microsoft excel and solid understanding of Microsoft office Suite is a must.Excellent oral and written communication skills with the capability to communicate at all levels (with internal and external partners) is important to the role.Vested interest in learning and building a career in the commercial insurance space.Always seeking to live Aviva's values throughout all interactions.What You’ll GetCompetitive rewards package including base compensation, eligibility for annual bonus, retirement savings, share plan, health benefits, personal wellness, and volunteer opportunities!Exceptional Career Development opportunities!We’ll support your professional development education.Additional Information:Aviva Canada has an accommodation process in place to provide accommodations for employees with disabilities.
