Job Description

Ref ID: 05060-0012444035Classification: ControllerCompensation: $100000.00 to $120000.00 yearlyOur client, a US listed company is looking for a manager for financial reporting.

  • Prepares quarterly and annual financial statements and other U.S. financial and regulatory reports in accordance with U.S. GAAP and applicable exchange regulations (10-Q and 10-K filings).
  • Prepares working papers to support the consolidated U.S. GAAP financial statements and footnotes.
  • Assists with monthly management reporting requirements (i.e., preparation of monthly consolidation, variance analysis, and working papers to support month-end journal entries related to stock-based compensation, leases, revenue recognition and other critical accounting matters).
  • Takes a lead in the role in the preparation of the Company’s MD amp; A.
  • Works with the Investor Relations team to ensure consistent messaging In the company #39;s reporting.
  • Develops and implements finance and accounting policies and procedures and prepares documentation to support compliance with SOX 404 internal control requirements.
  • Analyzes revenue, licensing and collaboration agreements and prepares revenue recognition accounting memos and working papers in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Conducts research and/or prepares accounting memos for other key contracts, transactions or initiatives.
  • Takes a lead in the role with the Company’s auditors in relation to review / audit of the company’s financial statements.
  • Responsible for administering the Company’s equity award management software to ensure grants and forfeitures are set up accurately and to generate period-end stock-based compensation reports to support quarterly and annual disclosures in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Prepares working papers to support management compensation and other disclosures, as relevant, included in the Company’s annual Proxy.
  • Researches emerging regulatory reporting and disclosure topics including benchmarking against other companies.
  • Proactively identifies improvements to current financial reporting processes and ensures that financial reporting procedures are performed in accordance with the Company’s SOX compliant policies and internal controls.
  • Assists with the Company #39;s treasury function, banking wires, treasury planning and cash flow management.
  • Assists with special projects, as directed.
Job Requirements:Skills and Abilities
  • Solid knowledge of U.S GAAP and/or IFRS accounting standards. U.S. GAAP experience an asset.
  • Ability to research areas of technical accounting complexity and apply applicable guidance to non-standard contracts and transactions.
  • Proficiency with MS Office with strong-to-expert knowledge of MS Excel.
  • Advanced quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with a cross-functional team.
  • Ability to multi-task and be comfortable in a high paced, fast changing environment.
  • Biotech/life sciences industry experience an asset.
  • Prior experience and familiarity with SAP or other equity awards management system an asset.
