Health & Safety CoordinatorHLD Muskoka is an established company situated in the beautiful town of Huntsville, Ontario. YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES WOULD BE…
  • Manage and continue to develop all aspects of the Health and Safety Program
  • Lead performance audits (e.g. CORâ„¢, WSIB Safety Excellence) including maintaining documentation, training, inspections, submittal preparation etc.
  • Undertake Annual Review of Health and Safety Policy
  • Ensure workers are aware and kept abreast of new policies and procedures.
  • WSIB Clearance and annual review
  • Complete pre-start-up work hazard assessment for foreman to review with team
  • Attend safety walks and inspections before or during each project to analyze safety risks
  • Educate employees on safety standards and expectations
  • Provide recommendations for improving safety in the workplace
  • Conduct JHS Meetings
  • Ensure workers have all the required & deemed necessary safety training and ensuring safety training is up to date while maintaining training records
  • Ensure Workers have appropriate PPE and site supervisors have appropriate inventory available.
  • Confirm equipment maintenance and annual inspections are up to date
  • Field visits as required for implementation of safety program
  • Complete accident investigations and reporting
  • Address and resolve health and safety issues or concerns as they arise
  • AODA Compliance
  • Onboarding new team members: orientation and training, new employee files, administering employee handbooks
  • Support the updating of employee handbook, ensuring updates are received by all members of HLD
  • Present any new or additional training materials to employees
  • Ensure all employee records are up to date, filed, maintained and kept confidential
  • Work directly with and report to the human resources manager
  • Performs other related duties as needed
THE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES YOU WILL NEED…
  • Passion for fostering a healthy & safe work environment
  • Knowledge of OH&S Act and Regulation
  • Highly organized and efficient worker; skilled at multi-tasking
  • Positive and personable demeanor
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and resolve conflict
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Excellent collaborator with the ability to be assertive and escalate issues to management when necessary

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS…
  • G class licence
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a related position or a combination of related experience and education
  • Construction JHSC Certification part 1 & 2 an asset
  • IHSA Basics of Supervising or equivalent an asset.
  • Knowledge of Ontario’s Certificate of Recognition (COR) program
  • Understanding of federal and provincial safety requirements OHSA, ESA and MOL
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
