Job Description

Location: Toronto preferred but flexible (core hours Eastern Standard Time)Taking care of our environment has never been more important than it is today. The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) is looking for a Database Administrator and Solutions Analyst to join a team committed to protecting our most important natural areas and the plants and animals they sustain.NCC is the nation’s leading not-for-profit, private land conservation organization, working to protect our most important natural areas and the species they sustain. With a national office in Toronto and seven regional offices across the country, NCC delivers results you can walk on.Position SummaryThe Database Administrator will be responsible for the management and maintenance of NCC databases.The role will be responsible for the standardization, configuration, integration, and performance optimization of critical NCC database systems.The incumbent will ensure the availability and consistent performance of the relevant business applications.This role will primarily be professional/technical.Position Requirements

  • University or College degree in computer science or a related field.
  • One to two years of experience in database administration, information technology, database architecture, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong command of MS SQL and SQL server tools.
  • Extensive experience with database technologies (MS SQL preferred).
  • Advanced knowledge of database security, and performance monitoring standards.
  • Knowledge of PowerShell scripting.
  • Familiarity with SSRS.
  • Hands on experience in issues management, including problem-solving and coordination of issue resolution in a timely fashion.
  • Good project management skills in accordance with current accepted principles and practices.
  • Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain relations with others (NCC staff, peers within other organizations, consultants, contractors, agencies / organizations) and to resolve project-related complaints / disputes / issues.
  • Time Management / organization skills to identify priorities, re-arrange work if required to meet identified deadlines.
  • Communication skills (listening, writing, verbal) to provide clear direction to those involved in / working on the project; to ensure solid understanding of work requirements, work guidelines and to encourage and sustain consensus building to make decisions.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure a plus.
