Job Description

Position SummaryThe Assistant Superintendent will support the project Superintendent with overseeing the project- coordinating with labourers and subcontractors. SKYGRiD is a growing company so the applicant must be familiar with managing in a high-pressure challenging environment.Key Responsibilities:· Provide on-site management, administrative and technical direction on the construction project site.· Enforce company and project policies and ensures project is constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule.· Contribute to the development of a construction plan and to manage subcontractor activities.· Attend required construction meetings with consultants and subtrades· Assure construction compliance with design requirements, project materials and workmanship meet the project Quality Standards.· Review site work as directed by the Superintendent.· Complete a daily summary report including details regarding health and safety, employees on site, daily progress.· Supervise and coordinate field engineering and construction activities.· Ability to order and schedule concrete and rebar deliveries.· Ability to schedule and supervise building finishing disciplines and handyman work.· Direct site labourers, as needed.· Review labourer timesheets and ensure they are completed on time.· Assure compliance with project construction schedule budgets.· Ensure the implementation of SKYGRiD’s Safety Program to create a safe work environment throughout the jobsite and adhere to the safety and record keeping requirements.· Advise senior management of potential problems, work interferences, or schedule difficulties while assisting in circumventing/resolving such conflicts.· Report on process of project to all stakeholders.· Oversee the filing and administrative component onsite to ensure the team is documenting, logging, and filing appropriately.· Supervise staff, should Superintendent be absent.· Other duties as requested.Required Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:· Educational and experience requirements include a Construction related university degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience.· A minimum of 5 years’ construction high rise experience.· Proven leadership ability.· Strong knowledge of structural drawings.· Foresight to predict problems before they develop.· Advanced knowledge of various construction disciplines, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, quality control, engineering drawings and other documents.· Knowledge of Tarion guidelines.· Proven ability to achieve “building occupancy” with city officials.· Ability to assume responsibility, interface, and clearly communicate with others.· Enthusiasm for challenge and new initiatives.Type: Permanent Full-TimeSalary: To Be DeterminedStart date: ASAPJob location: Whitby, ONTraveling required: To SiteSKYGRiD is committed to building a diverse workforce representative of the communities we serve.
