We strive to provide our employees with meaningful and challenging work, and an engaging and collaborative environment.Michels Canada headquarters is based in Nisku, Alberta, Canada.DESCRIPTIONMichels Canada is looking for an experienced Field Recruiter to partner with the business units within Michels Canada’s multi-divisional Infrastructure group to ensure to meet the immediate, short-term and long-term craft labour resourcing requirements to meet the immediate, short-term and long-term craft labour resourcing requirements. You will be an expert relationship builder, and will architect creative solutions to attract, engage and recruit top talent. To be successful in the role, you will demonstrate the ability to build and foster strong stakeholder relationships, provide effective and consistent communication with all divisional groups, while effectively managing your time, and maintaining a high degree of organization in a fast-paced, high volume recruitment environment.This position is an office based role in our Nisku Office.RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions
  • Understand and believe in Michels Canada Core Values; consistently demonstrating alignment through everyday actions and able to ascertain the best fit for the company based on the candidates own values and beliefs.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the market conditions, including competitors, utilizing this information to find unique ways to fulfil staffing needs by sourcing, engaging, and recruiting strong candidates;
  • Build sourcing and marketing strategies to effectively engage active and passive candidates;
  • Build partnerships with Project Managers and Site Superintendents, developing a keen understanding of short and long-term project staffing requirements.
  • Coordinate Union Call Outs and Dispatches for craft labour from the applicable unions as requested by the Project Managers and Site Superintendents to efficiently manage our project labour resources requirements.
  • Proactively partner with the business to develop an in-depth understanding of resourcing.
  • Regularly and proactively communicate project status with the site and internal stakeholders.
  • Build out talent pipelines of pre-qualified, available, and interested candidates.
  • Identify and network with relevant talent pools to actively engage passive candidates, generating pipelines for current and future vacancies.
  • Compile active and passive candidate target lists through research, cold calling, phone screens, social and professional networking.
  • Manage candidate status using internal applicant tracking systems, documenting all communication and status updates.
  • Understand site requirements, including equipment specifics, applying knowledge to candidate review and screening process.
  • Confirm validity of safety certifications and arrange additional training when required.
  • Clearly communicate expectations and next steps with candidates to ensure a seamless onboarding and mobilization experience.
  • Follow up with and track employee candidate referrals.

  • Track and report on departmental statistical data including turnover, retention, time/cost to hire, A&D results, training, and service levels.
  • Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Experience working in high volume craft/labour recruitment role related to heavy civil infrastructure projects preferred.
  • Knowledge of Collective Bargaining Agreements and labour union relations is an asset.
  • Possesses strong written and verbal communications skills;
  • Ability to work under pressure with strict deadlines
  • Intermediate skills in MS Office
  • Highly organized and able to work on multiple, competing priorities at any one time
  • Experienced with Employment Standards legislation in BC, AB and ON is preferred
  • Provides an exceptional service-focused approach
EDUCATION
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Human Resources Management is an asset
LANGUAGES
  • Must be able to communicate verbally, non verbally and through written language (by hand and digitally) in English.
