Roadbuilding/Water & Sewer Construction Company seeking motivated, reliable, well organized, highly detail orientated, professional individual for the position of HR / Safety Coordinator. This person is responsible for the safety, welfare and administration of the employees.Roles and Responsibilities include but not limited to:HUMAN RESOURCES· Recruit, interview and select field staff as requested or required.· Plan and conduct new employee orientations to foster positive attitude toward organisational objectives in a timely fashion.· Plan, organize, and coordinate any required personnel training.· Ensure compliance with corporate policies, fair employment practices and governmental regulations (including Alberta Labour and Human Rights).· Assist in difficult staffing duties, including dismissing employees, administering disciplinary procedures, and conducting investigations on employee relation issues.· File Management; manage employee documentation, electronic and paper.· Create and maintain employee data including: recruitment, orientation and training certificates so it is easily accessible and distributed as required.· May perform other duties as assigned.SAFETY· Maintain safety documentation and records.· Receive and review all field documentation (toolbox meetings, hazard assessments, confined space entry permits, incident reports, etc.)· Ensure compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations, WCB reporting Procedures, the Company’s Safety Policies and Procedures.· Manage the companies modified work and return to work program.· Proactively identify hazardous situations and work with crews, and make necessary recommendations and corrective measures.· Ensure safety awareness at site level is constantly maintained to enable the Company to prevent any workplace accidents and maintain/improve our overall corporate record.· Completing accident/incident investigations, root cause investigations and develop solutions and corrective actions in a timely manner to minimize any future occurrences.· Identify, communicate, report notifiable incidents to the appropriate agencies within the timelines as set out under Regulations and the Company corporate safety program to ensure compliance with all regulations.· Complete and conduct monthly work site inspections and safety meetings.· Perform internal and external peer Audits as required for COR.· Participate in Company Health and Safety Committee.QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:· CRSP certification, or equivalent experience (CRST, CSP, CHSC) is required.· Having certification as an NCSO in addition to CRSP or equivalent experience would be an asset.· A Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in Water and Sewer Installation and Roadbuilding construction environments would be an asset· As the successful applicant, you will lead by example.· Experience with development of Safe Work Practices and Procedures.· Knowledgeable of applicable safety and labour relations rules and regulations to ensure requirements are met.· Follow defined processes and boundaries provided by the Company’s Health and Safety program and relevant OH&S (or equivalent) legislation to be able to make appropriate, timely decisions in consultation with others.· Demonstrate computer competency with Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, Access and Outlook.· Strong attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies.· Excellent interpersonal verbal and written English communication skills.· Must be able to handle confidential information in an ethical and professional manner.· Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract.Pre-Employment Requirements:· Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.Wages are dependent on experience, benefits available for the right individual.Applicants are requested to please submit a cover letter with salary expectations, current resume with 3 work related references.We would like to thank all applicants for submitting their resume.
