Over the past 3 years, Michels Canada has expanded services and overall employee head-count across all of our divisions from coast to coast. As part of the overall people strategy, Michels Canada is eager to hire a experienced Learning & Development Specialist who will be responsible for the development and implementation of an effective L&D program that will support training, leadership development programming, and succession planning across our Canadian operations.RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions
  • Identify ongoing training requirements and needs; Perform training gap/needs analysis by working closely with the Sr. HR Manager, department managers, and propose relevant and innovative learning solutions.
  • Effectively communicates, schedules, and budgets alongside Sr. HR Manager. Sources external providers for learning, development, and training opportunities.
  • Supports HR Manager with the development of Individual Development Plans (IDP) and the coordination of associated people development activities.
  • Assist with the preparation of annual succession planning processes and dashboards.
  • Assist in the preparation of onboarding new employees, including skill gap analysis and mitigation planning.
  • Deliver training content, directly or indirectly through our internal network or through vendors.
  • Solicit and review training participant feedback for continuous growth.
  • Ensure that learning materials are relevant and effective in accordance with best practices and business standards, while exploring new methodologies and joint learning opportunities.
  • Produce monthly training reports inclusive of attendance, feedback and budgeting.
  • Participate in future-forward Learning & Development planning and budgeting.
  • Ongoing maintenance and audit of employee training records, ensuring accuracy and timely input into the HRIS system.
  • Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role, with a focus on Training & Development or HR Administration
  • Must have prior experience working in major organization growth environments
  • Must have prior experience in designing, creating and implementing a successful L&D program.
DESIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
  • Possess exceptional facilitation, consulting and coaching skills
  • Strong project management skills combined with the ability to design and deliver learning solutions
  • Learns and adapts to new software and/or programs
  • Knowledge of the construction industry is a major asset
  • Able to negotiate with vendors on pricing packages for new training materials
EDUCATION
  • Post-secondary university degree or diploma in Education or related discipline
LANGUAGES
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and through written language (by hand and digitally) in English.
