Job Description

Job Summary:Reporting to the MWD Manager, the MWD Technician performs repair and maintenance on Measurement While Drilling equipment supporting field operation activities.Specific Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Performs functional testing and sensor calibration checks on surface and down-hole electronic equipment.
  • Soldering of electrical connectors, wiring harnesses and components.
  • Participates in root cause analysis by providing maintenance findings.
  • Use test equipment, power supplies, multimeters and scopes.
  • Assembles and disassembles down-hole tools.
  • Follow repair procedures, complete documentation and maintain files of repair history
Technical Competencies:
  • Electronic, Instrumentation Diploma or equivalent technical school would be an asset. Related work experience will also be given consideration.
  • Strong computer skills are essential.
  • Good mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform consistent procedures on down-hole equipment.
Behavioral Competencies:
  • Good organizational time management skills with the ability to allocate time and self-manage tasks to deliver equipment to meet operations requirements.
Education and Experience:
  • Electronic, Instrumentation Diploma or equivalent technical school would be an asset. Related work experience will also be given consideration.
