With the support of our leadership team and peers, our people are encouraged to share their perspectives.Job PurposeThe Shipper is responsible for ensuring that completed projects are shipped to the correct destination.Responsibilities:

  • Displays a commitment to Waiwards incident-free vision, values, and culture.
  • Works effectively as a member of a team and coach other shippers and helpers.
  • Works independently with minimal supervision.
  • Performs pre-use inspections on forklift.
  • Fuels the forklift when needed and completes requisitions for any maintenance problems.
  • Picks up material, travels and places material safely in the appropriate spot.
  • Receives instructions on priority jobs and completes accordingly.
  • Ensures finished loads meet all safety and legal requirements.
  • Barcodes pieces/identifies material.
  • Checks drawings and ensures that correct pieces are included in load.
  • Loads trailers/pre-stack loads on the ground.
  • Demonstrates computer skills printing bar codes, load lists and missing pieces reports.
  • Prepares reports for next shift.
  • Attends toolbox meetings.
  • Reports personal injuries, no matter how minor, and obtain medical attention as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma preferred
  • Certified Overhead Crane Operator preferred
  • Basic and/or Advanced Rigging course preferred
  • 1 to 3 years of related experience considered an asset
  • Basic knowledge of Windows applications preferred
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
  • FLHA Training.
  • Certified Forklift Operator an asset
  • WHMIS
Working ConditionsThe incumbent is required to work in a shipping yard with moderate noise.Physical RequirementsThe incumbent is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: viewing a computer terminal for extended periods of time; and extensive reading. The incumbent is also required to stand and sit for extended periods of time and will require good physical attributes for walking on uneven ground, climbing, confined space entry, limited lifting, and sitting.
