Your Opportunity with Michels CanadaReporting to the Purchasing and Equipment Manager, the Shop Summer Student will be responsible for assisting shop personnel in various tasks related to organization, inventory, and distribution of equipment. The ideal candidate must have strong commination and teamwork skills, the ability to adapt and learn quickly, as well as the ability to perform physical labour for extended periods of time.Your Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions
  • Helping prepare shipments: filling crates with goods, securely fastening cargo and equipment, ensuring proper paperwork is filled out.
  • Assisting with vehicle inventory: license plates, key management, mileage tracking
  • Clean up yard which includes seasonal duties
  • Assisting other workers / divisions when they are present in the yard and shop
  • General housekeeping duties: clean up shop, sweep, wash, and squeegee floors
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • Physically fit, and able to be on feet for extended periods of time
