Job Description

We value and encourage different perspectives and we have the courage to do the right thing, even when it’s hard.Reporting to the Manager, Supply Chain, the Supervisor, Nisku Warehouse is responsible for the supervision of the warehousing and logistics of material at the Nisku warehouse and to achieve the optimum balance between internal customer service and inventory carrying cost. Materials include

  • Inventory recorded in the Oracle Inventory Module (OIM)
  • Material handled by warehouse personnel not necessarily recorded as inventory
Internal customers include internal departments and departments of the ATCO Electric Yukon Company Limited, Northland Utilities (NWT) Limited, and Northland Utilities (Yellowknife) Limited.We’re looking for someone who cares about their work and strives for more each day.   • Develop and implement warehousing and logistic operations standards, strategies and practices and communicate them to Nisku warehouse staff, peers and internal customers.
  • Contribute to overall supply chain management development and management.
  • Provide internal customers after hours support for rush or emergency situations.
  • Establish inventory management best practices and provide direction to Nisku Warehouse employees to monitor and maintain Oracle Transfer orders so that inventory commitments are valid and dated correctly.
  • Establish best practices for all material movement, storage and security at the Nisku warehouse.
  • Support Field Warehouse Operations, Inventory and Purchasing activities and initiatives.
HR Management
  • Build trust through Safety Leadership by actively promoting a safe work culture and providing visible leadership with respect to Health, Safety and Environment.
  • Collaboratively develop individual performance objectives and monitor results.
  • Establish basis for workload distribution and provide flexibility to address changes or shifts in the workload that may result from exceptions or major assignments.
  • Collaboratively develop individual performance objectives and monitor results.
  • Monitor compliance to ensure professional conduct and standards are maintained.
  • Manage and administer staff vacation and training plans.
  • Interview and select new and replacement employees.
  • Mentor employees through coaching, counseling, on ‐ the ‐ job training and supervision.
Health, Safety and Environment
  • Lead and coordinate the HSE activities for the Nisku Warehouse and ensure HSE practices are in compliance.
  • Ensure all staff and visitors are in compliance with HSE process and practices, including proper use of PPE.
  • Ensure HSE orientation processes and practices are followed.
  • Monitor and report all incidents, investigate incidents and follow ‐ up on action items to ensure completion.
  • Coordinate and report on HSE inspections.
  • Coordinate and respond to HSE audits and reporting.
  • Build trust through Safety Leadership by actively promoting a safe work culture and providing visible leadership with respect to Health, Safety and Environment.
  • Review and report on HSE training requirements and arrange for the required training.
  • Ensure Emergency Action Plan is updated annually and circulated to Nisku facility occupants.
Facility Manager
  • Lead and coordinate, with other tenants, facilities maintenance activities for the Nisku building
  • Direct and advise on activities of facility maintenance staff in regards to maintenance programs, budget preparation and monitoring, and facility capital programs.
  • Direct, coordinate and process distribution of facility operating costs for multi department tenant base
  • Maintain facility security and respond to any issues that may arise.
Internal Customer Service
  • Counsel internal customers to ensure their practices align with Company business objectives with respect to material management and achieving the optimum balance between service levels, warehousing and inventory investment.
  • Provide information on and interpretation of material management policies, guidelines and practices.
  • Participate in and when requested lead meetings and conferences regarding Warehousing and Logistics, and related strategies and initiatives.
Disposal
  • Assist the Asset Recovery Supervisor in the disposal and recycling of materials and equipment.
  • Work with the Asset Recovery Supervisor and other staff in the disposal and recycling of materials and equipment.
  • Provide information pertaining to condition of equipment and completeness of parts, including but not limited to, recommending if equipment is suitable for certain or other applications
Financial
  • Manage operations, within staff and budget constraints, to ensure services are provided in the most cost ‐ effective way.
  • Assist with the preparation and administration of the annual budget for the Nisku
warehouse.
  • Approve expenses, invoices and timecards.
  • Lead the development of annual group initiatives and business objectives.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum High School Diploma.
  • SCMP designation preferred
  • Minimum 7-10 years progressive warehousing, material, procurement and/or inventory experience supplemented with proven leadership skills.
  • Ability to supervise, coach and mentor others; demonstrated ability to lead.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and sound decision-making ability.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to influence, negotiate, and manage conflicts.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively network and build relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and professionally while managing multiple demands and priorities.
Required Skill:
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Above average communication skills to write contracts, scopes of work, notify others of challenging situations and chairing meetings
  • Detail oriented, must be able to meet deadlines
  • Team player with demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of management within and outside the organization skillfully and with ease
  • Ability to manage changing priorities in a fast-paced environment and ensure deadlines are met.
