Job Description

COMPANY PROFILEPrimoris Canada is an infrastructure contractor serving major firms in the oil, gas, power, petrochemical, and heavy oil industries and include services covering tailings and hydro-transport pipeline construction and maintenance, storage tank construction and maintenance, industrial facilities multi-discipline construction and maintenance, piping fabrication, and pipeline integrity services.SUMMARYWe are currently seeking an experienced Construction Survey Party Chief to join our Survey Department. Reporting to the Survey Manager and Project Manager, this position will be responsible for performing field survey work on projects in the construction, oil & gas, and industrial industries staking pile locations, marking pile cut off elevations, and setting pile cap locations as per engineering drawing requirements.Anticipated Start Date: ASAPLocation: Nisku, ABTravel/Accommodations: Out of town travel and accommodations will be provided, if requiredJOB DUTIES

  • Comply with Company and Client Safety rules, as well as OH&S standards
  • Manage and perform field survey work
  • Liaise with Survey Manager to coordinate field survey work and to review and manage project timeline requirements, priorities, and survey methodology
  • Prepare and communicate field notes, sketches, checklists, and digital data in required formats
  • Set site control, benchmarks, pile layout, pile cut off elevations, as build pile locations, pile caps, and as build pile cap locations
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of industry best practices, efficient field processes and procedures, and the innovative use of new technology
  • Attend required safety and tailgate/toolbox meetings
  • May perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ideally a graduate of a recognized post-secondary program related to Surveying and Geomatics and/or have experience in the Construction Survey Industry
  • 5+ years of experience in the Survey Party Chief role
  • Strong working knowledge of survey equipment and software such as GPS and Robotic Total Stations
  • Knowledge and experience of Topcon equipment and software would be considered an asset
  • Strong problem-solving skills in a field environment
  • Good communication skills - verbal and written; ability to produce accurate and legible field notes
  • An aptitude for delivering projects on time
  • CSTS-09 or CSTS-20
  • Completed training and valid tickets in First Aid, H2S, Ground Disturbance, and Transportation of Dangerous Goods are a strong asset
  • Must be physically able to lift 50lbs
