Your Opportunity with Michels CanadaThis position requires prior experience in a field or plant management role with the ability to manage multiple field teams to support current projects as well as develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance and servicing program for MTBM, TBM, HDD, Direct Pipe, and ancillary support equipment. Knowledge, experience, and expertise in the assembly and disassembly, commissioning, maintenance, repair, and servicing of equipment used in Tunneling, Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD), and Direct Pipe industries required. Specific knowledge of Herrenknecht TBMs (slurry, EPB and rock), Herrenknecht MTBMs, Herrenknecht Direct Pipe thrusting equipment, slurry plant components (de-sanders, de-silting units, shaker units, and centrifuges), electrical controls, high voltage electric power and distribution, as well as ancillary support equipment utilized in the tunneling industry. Develop and implement a spare parts and preventative maintenance program including the hiring and supervising of supplementary personnel to support current projects as well as shop refurbishment and maintenance of Tunnel Boring Machine equipment.Your Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
  • Responsible for the assembly, commissioning, refurbishment, repair, maintenance, and servicing of equipment utilized in the installation of underground utilities by means of trenchless technology such as Herrenknecht, Robbins, Lovat, etc.
  • Coordinate with Project Superintendents and Operators to trouble shoot equipment issues and problems. Develop and report to senior executives as required on shop and field service operations.
  • Schedule routine maintenance and support field operations as well as refurbishment schedules for all equipment.
  • Source and order parts needed for Tunneling and Trenchless Equipment including OEM parts from Herrenknecht AG.
  • Prepare Equipment Service Reports and logs on Trenchless Equipment.
  • Read, understand and update complex schematics for mechanical, hydraulic, electrical control, power distribution.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Capabilities and Credentials
  • Minimum 5+ years shop or plant management experience as well as minimum of 5 years field service experience.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience related to servicing, assembly, and commissioning of tunneling industry related equipment including a minimum of 5 years of direct experience managing the servicing and maintenance of Herrenknecht micro-tunneling, tunneling and shaft boring equipment.
  • Firm understanding of PLC programing of Allen Bradley and Siemens S5 & S7 Platforms, electrical controls, hydraulic controls, high voltage power and distribution used in the tunneling industry.
  • Expertise with micro tunneling plant and equipment less than 5m in diameter as well as experience with EPB, Slurry and Rock Tunneling equipment greater than or equal to 5m in diameter.
  • Must possess a valid driver license for the type(s) of vehicles which may be driven and an acceptable driving record as determined by the DOT Operations Director and Michels Legal Department.
