Job Description

INTERNAL/EXTERNALPlease review Canadore’s COVID-19 Vaccination Policy, Campus Access prior to applying to this position.HEALTH, PUBLIC SAFETY, AND ENVIRONMENTAL ASSISTANT INFRASTRUCTURE AND PUBLIC SAFETY FULL-TIME 35 HR/WEEK - $25.89/HRCOLLEGE DRIVE CAMPUS – NORTH BAY, ONCOMPETITION: 141/21DEADLINE: WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 1 – 12:00P.M.QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two year Diploma in Office Administration, Occupational Health and Safety or a relevant field
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with health and safety systems and records in a computer-automated office
  • Experience with Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee (JOHSC) meetings including agenda creation and minute taking
  • Experience with purchase orders, vendor management and expense reconciliation
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an awareness of and sensitivity to diversity
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and work on multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Sound judgement and problem solving skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to gather information, analyze, evaluate, formulate and recommend appropriate course of action
  • Demonstrated high level of proficiency with computer applications including but not limited to Microsoft Office 365: Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint and MS Teams
DUTIES:
  • Provide clerical/administrative support for the College’s safety management system including incident investigation, WSIB reporting, updating of procedure manuals, posting of information, and conducting WPI/audits/follow-ups on hazards reported
  • Provide input and support for the College’s identification, assessment and elimination/control of hazards system including assisting with the JHSC meeting agenda, minutes, WPI and posting of information
  • Provide clerical/administrative support for the College’s shared security office including creation and posting of schedules, parking system online and in-office financial tracking including payroll automatic deduction for both Canadore College and Nipissing University
  • Provide clerical/administrative support for the College’s waste and hazardous waste management system
  • Maintain all training records for internal and external training to employees pertaining to health, safety, security, and environmental matters
  • Set up and maintain the office filing system and reconciliation of department office expenses
  • Create and post work schedules for the security team and maintain records of attendance, overtime, and payroll timesheets
  • Follow up on action items and research on various health, safety, and security related topics
  • Other duties as they relate to health, safety, and environmental policies/processes as required
