District of North SaanichUtilities Operator Semi-Skilled($33.29 per hour – 2023 rates)Applications are invited for the full-time position of Utilities Operator Semi-Skilled in the Utilities Department for the District of North Saanich. The Utilities Operator Semi-Skilled involves semi- skilled work of some complexity involving the operation and maintenance of the waterworks and sewer system. An employee of this class assists a supervisor in making permanent or temporary repairs to the system to maintain services, and to alleviate or prevent conditions which endanger public health and safety, or to public or private property. This position works without close supervision and solves the majority of field problems from a range of established operations.Applicants must have high school graduation supplemented by successful completion or ability to complete within an acceptable time frame the following certifications or equivalents: Environmental Operators Certification Program Level II Water Distribution, Level I Wastewater Collection and Cross-Connection Certification. Applicants must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the operation, maintenance and construction of water and wastewater infrastructure, preferably in local government.This position is a Union position and is subject to the terms and conditions in the collective agreement between District of North Saanich and the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 374.
