Job Description

Early Childhood Educator / Infant Toddler Floater Opportunity (for our Infant / Toddler and 3-5 Programs) Location: Parkgate Child Care Full-TimeWho We Are: With a vision of a vibrant, connected community, Parkgate Society (PS) creates opportunities for people in our community to live life better. Opportunity: We are looking for an Early Childhood Educator (ECE) with Infant/Toddler Certification or ECE and currently enrolled in a BC approved training institution to become a certified Infant Toddler Educator.Parkgate Society’s Child Care, School Age Careamp; Family Centre have been chosen by the Province of BC to become $10 a day Child Care (BC sites).We strive to exceed licensing regulations by having a better than required child / staff ratio and we stay current with the newest standards and best practices of early learning. Our Child Care centres are equipped with high quality play equipment, including natural play and art materials. Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Cover shifts for staff absent from Parkgate Society Child Care under 5 years of age programs (i.e. Infant/Toddler, 3-5 Care Programs)
  • Support staff on the floor as needed, if coverage is needed or as an extra staff
  • Responsible for the constant supervision, safety and well-being of the children attending Parkgate Society’s Child Care programs
  • Recognize and respond to the needs of each child by using developmentally appropriate positive guidance and teaching methods
  • Follow the planning, preparing and implementation of stimulating, age-appropriate activities that the program teams create
  • May be requested to participate in team discussions to encourage children’s creativity, learning and to promote each child’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical development aligned with the current BC Early Learning Framework
  • Participate fully and consistently as a team member in caring for the children and in the overall operations of the Child Care centre and programs
  • Establish and maintain regular and ongoing communication with team members, other staff and parents
  • Ensure the Child Care programs are always operating in compliance with all Child Care licensing standards
  • As needed, perform other duties as assigned by the Child Care Supervisors or Child Care Manager
Qualifications:
  • A valid Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Certificate (minimum)
  • An Infant / Toddler Certificate is desirable (or currently enrolled in Infant / Toddler training)
  • A current Child Care first aid certificate
  • A clear Criminal Records Check for Vulnerable Persons
  • A minimum of twelve (12) months experience in a licensed child care setting in BC
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada
It would be a bonus if you have:
  • A current Food Safe certificate
  • A class 4 drivers license in BC
Contract Details:
  • This is a full-time permanent position, 35 hours per week, which comes with extended healthamp; dental benefits, three (3) weeks paid vacation to start, professional development funds, flexible hours, free parking, close to transit and a fabulousamp; supportive Parkgate Society team.
  • Wage range is $22.00 to $27.00 per hour depending on certification and experience; please note that this range is EXCLUDING the $6.00 BC Wage Enhancement which will be received by candidates for each hour worked.
