Posting Title SPO 30R - Team Leader Team Leader, Youth Justice and Collaborative Practice Position Classification Social Prog Off R30 Union GEU Work Options Hybrid Location North Vancouver, BC V7P 3M7 CA (Primary)Salary Range $88,152.35 - $100,665.30 annually Close Date 1/8/2024 Job Type Regular Full Time Temporary End Date Ministry/Organization BC Public Service - gt; Childrenamp; Family Development Ministry Branch / Division Youth Justice Job Summary Provide direction and leadership and make a difference in your community!The Youth Justiceand Collaborative Practice Team Leader is responsible for supervising youth probation officers within the Service Delivery Area (SDA) and for ensuring:

  • staff receive timely and sufficient training
  • local practice is consistent with legislation and established policies, standards and procedures
  • issues and inquiries regarding youth probation are addressed in a timely and appropriate manner
Job Requirements: EDUCATIONamp; EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor #39;s degree in a Human Services field (Human Services field includes Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Anthropology, Early Childhood Education, Indigenous Studies, Education, Theology and Nursing,History, Political Science) AND
  • A minimum two (2) years #39; experience as an Adult or Youth Probation Officer in a Canadian jurisdiction.
IMPORTANT ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
  • All education credentials will be subject to verification and validation as per ministry process.
  • In addition, if your education was obtained outside of Canada, you need to have it assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Service .
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Successful completion of security screening requirements of the BC Public Service, which includes a Criminal Record Check and a Criminal Records Review Act (CRRA) check.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 BC Driver #39;s License with no restriction or equivalent (i.e., from another Canadian Province).
PREFERENCE MAY BE GIVEN TO APPLICANTS WITH THE FOLLOWING:
  • Applicants who have current Youth Justice delegation or who have held Youth Justice delegation within the last 2 years.
  • Five (5) years or more experience as an Adult or Youth Probation Officer in a Canadian jurisdiction.
  • Six (6) months or more experience supervising in a youth justice or equivalent setting.
  • Applicants who self-identify as First Nations, Métis or Inuit with the required combination of education and experience.
  • Six (6) months or more experience in the role of a collaborative practice facilitator AND/OR Six (6) months or more experience supervising a collaborative practice team or equivalent setting.
WILLINGNESS STATEMENTS:
  • Successful candidates must be able to meet the requirements of delegation under the Youth Justice Act (YJA) and Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA) within the first 6 months of hiring.
  • Travel, as necessary, is a requirement; therefore, transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of the ministry.
  • May be required to travel in adverse (reasonable) weather conditions.
  • May be required to use your own vehicle, with appropriate insurance, on an expense account basis.
  • This position requires irregular work hours, including some evenings and weekends.
  • Opportunity to work with families facing challenges which may occasionally involve exposure to unpleasant dealings with angry, abusive, or abused clients; exposure to hazards from frequently working around volatile parents and/or children in crisis.
