Apply today to join our team!As a Wheelchair/Rehabiliation Technician, you will:- Works under the general supervision of an Occupational Therapist, sets up, produces and adapts assistive devices, wheelchairs and seating systems to enable clients to achieve and maintain maximum potential for independence.- Performs maintenance duties on wheelchairs and assistive technology devices as required.- Maintains an inventory of supplies, equipment, tools, wheelchairs, specialized mattresses, and seating components and arranges for maintenance and/or repair of equipment as necessary.- Utilizes various computer programs to facilitate ordering equipment, record keeping and communication.- Works under the direction of an Occupational Therapist, instructs staff, residents, family members and volunteers on the proper functioning of wheelchair and assistive device equipment, and reports relevant observations of resident #39;s progress to the Occupational Therapist.- Works under the direction of an Occupational Therapist, will carry out an intervention plan related to the provision of wheeled mobility and seating.Educationamp; Experience- Grade 10.- Four (4) years #39; recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Knowledgeamp; Abilities- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.- Ability to deal with others effectively.- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.- Ability to organize work.- Ability to operate related equipment.The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.As per the current Public Health Orders (Long Term Care/Seniors Assisted Living Provincial Health Officer Order and the Health Sector Order), as of October 26, 2021, all employees working for Vancouver Coastal Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
