Posting End Date:April 26, 2022Employee Type:Regular-Full timeUnion/Non:This is a non-union positionAre you a communications professional with an outstanding ability to develop external communication plans and tactics, for a variety of infrastructure projects, each with independent needs. We are looking for an Advisor Communications to join our team!In this Advisor Communications role, the focus of this position will be to support the development, coordination and execution, of external communications and advocacy plans for mostly utility construction projects through a project’s lifecycle and in service.Does this sound like your next opportunity We would love to hear from you.Apply today!Note: There are two (2) vacancies available. One (1) located in Chatham, and one (1) located in North York. Please indicate your location preference(s) on your application.What you will do:

  • Develop and coordinate the execution of an external communication plan to guide all project communications though a project lifecycle from initiation, development, regulatory approvals, construction and in service. Coordinate with Municipal and Indigenous engagement plans to ensure alignment.
  • Equip company spokespersons and those accountable for partner engagement with consistent/accurate information to support engagement activities (e.g. media, regulators, government, Indigenous communities). and provide communications support for engagement activities.
  • Develop project-specific communications materials, including key message development, issue briefs, fact sheets, event plans, virtual open house materials, newsletters, website information, social media posts, community events, project updates and others, by working with various internal teams (Municipal Affairs, Marketing, Environment and Community Expansion).
  • Ensure all external communications are on brand.
  • Develop project advocacy plans based on project-specific scale and risk, aimed at achieving public support for a project and mitigating reputational risk. Could include paid media (digital ads, radio, paid social media ads, print), earned media (Opinion Editorials, letters to the editor), organic social; support materials such as facts sheets.
  • Maintain project website with ongoing updates at key landmarks.
  • Timely respond to incoming partner inquiries (from the website, social media, residents etc.) related to project work by working closely with partner engagement and project teams.
  • Proactively identify, support and respond to partner issues, to mitigate risks associated with potential opposition to the project.
  • Reinforce the need for critical energy infrastructure, associated local economic benefits, our dedication to be a responsible steward of the environment, and positive messages around natural gas.
  • Attend internal project team meetings to stay informed, solicit feedback and provide regular updates to the project team, maintaining strong and cooperative working relationships across the organization.
  • Participate in technical and non-technical project-specific meetings to add continuity across communications plans and projects and provide timely advice and recommendations with respect to issues management.
Who you are:
  • Related university degree and a minimum of 4+ years of directly related experience.
  • Outstanding communications skills, and excellent writing skills for mass communications as well as knowledgeable audiences.
  • Working knowledge of traditional media, social media and marketing campaign development.
  • Strong values of integrity, safety, respect and inclusion and character that is reliable, open, considerate, accommodating, agreeable.
  • Ability to coordinate and balance multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in the natural gas/energy industry and understanding of a large, public company with operations in multiple regions is an asset.
