Intervenor and or Direct Support Worker (Toronto)All COVID-19 precautions and screening measures are in place in this program.Currently we have two positions available to work with a young female adult. Students in school welcome to apply for weekend work to gain experience. Location--Fairview Mall, Toronto area.Position ObjectiveThe Intervenor and/or Direct Support/Developmental Services Worker are responsible for providing the support and information via a total communication approach to the individual. This program is also open to placement students, to gain hands on experience while working towards current completion of related educational programs.Client InformationThe individual in this position that you will support currently enjoys an active lifestyle in the community, including both indoor and outdoor activities.Job Responsibilities: · Personal care and medication administration is required.· No experience is necessary, training will be provided.· Responsible for providing on-going support in the home and the community.· Encourages individual to make meaningful choices on a daily basis.· Uses total communication techniques to relay the information to the individual.· The Support Worker provides input and participates in the overall program development.· Provides a level of support that ensures that the individual is successful in all aspects of daily living and development of life skills. Ability to adapt to the needs of the individual.· Follows established medical/health routines and ensures safety requirements are met.· Ensures accurate documentation of shift activities, medication, medical records, etc.· Position requires critical thinking abilities regarding day-to-day program activities. Demonstrates a positive and professional relationship with the team.Education and Related Experience· Completion or working towards a college diploma or certificate in DeafBlind Intervenor program, Developmental Services Worker (DSW), Community Services Worker (CSW), Child and Youth Worker (CYW) or from the field of Social/Behavioural Sciences.· Adapted Sign Language training will be provided. First Aid/CPR Training is required.· Employment conditional upon receipt of successful Vulnerable Persons Police Clearance.If interested in this position, then please apply immediately with your resume and cover letter.
