ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVEUnder the direction of the supervisor, housekeeping/laundry, responsible for performing housekeeping department tasks in an efficient and co-operative manner, with due consideration for residents in the vicinity.BACKGROUND/QUALIFICATIONSMust have completed at least grade 10. Must be able to follow oral and written instructions in the English language. Needs visual acuity to ensure cleaning tasks performed to standards. Some experience in an institutional housekeeping department is desirable. Computer skills required.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESParticipates in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities.Damp dusts all furniture in resident and office areas as per routine.Cleans bath, washroom fixtures, and cleans isolation rooms as per routine.Cleans long stay, discharge beds, and does project disinfecting of beds.Dusts and damp mops staircases and all non-carpet floor surfaces and baseboards, on routine basis, as well as polish stainless steel and chrome fittings.Cleans tops of windows, door frames and all wall hangings.Check and refill all your supplies including: Soap dispenser, Hand sanitizer dispenser, Paper towel dispenser and Toilet paper dispenser.Replaces paper supplies in respective dispensers.Maintains janitors closets in clean and tidy condition.Removes and hangs drapes and privacy curtains when required.Operates floor polishing machine and steam cleaning equipment, and strips, scrubs, spray buffs, and refinishes all non-carpet floor surfaces in the facility.Vacuums all carpet areas in the facility. Removes spots and stains from carpets and upholstery as they occur, and shampoos as required.Assists in moving all furnishings and any personal belongings of residents.Washes walls, ceiling, lights, vents and insides of window.Picks-up and disposes garbage and incontinent pads from waste containers to central depot points daily.Participates in the facilitys ongoing fire prevention, pest control, occupational health and safety, and infection control programs as required.Complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, and Workplace Hazardous Material Information System. This includes recognizing health and safety hazards, reporting incidents, fulfilling responsibilities under the applicable legislation, as well as participating in in-services and fire drills.Works in accordance with safety regulations (e.g. WHMIS and Occupational Health & Safety).Weekend and shift work are required.Performs duties outlined in work schedule of housekeeping aide as required, and other duties as assigned.Job Type: CasualSalary: $20.75-$22.10 per hourSchedule:
