Job Description

Job descriptionTasks & Duties:

  • Evaluates Requests for Quotation - Receives and reviews requests for quotation, drawings, specifications, and related documents. Performs take-offs and develops bills of material as required. Identifies make versus buy breakdowns.
  • Develops Labour Estimates - Identifies operations and inspections necessary for manufacture. Determines labour estimates for in-house manufacturing operations. Obtains input from sales staff and fabrication and welding supervisors to develop and/or verify estimates.
  • Requests Supplier/Subcontractor Quotations - Identifies purchase and subcontract processing requirements. Requests quotes from purchasing based on capabilities, capacities, delivery, cost, and reliability data. Reviews supplier quotations and identifies, investigates, and resolves discrepancies.
  • Produces Estimates and Quotations - Compiles all necessary information. Performs necessary costing and develops cost estimates based on approved rates and factors. Generates, reviews, edits, and releases completed estimates and quotations.
  • Resolves Discrepancies and Conflicts - Identifies, investigates, and resolves discrepancies with and between customers, suppliers, and company personnel as necessary to complete estimates and quotations.
  • Facilitates Supplier Assessment and Selection – May identify potential new suppliers. Participates in supplier assessment as necessary or where requested.
  • Services Customer Needs - Receives, investigates, and responds to customer needs for information. Resolves customer complaints by investigating problems, developing solutions, preparing reports and making recommendations to management.
  • Must Have sheet metal experience!
