Job Description

Your future starts now at Empower Simcoe!We are presently accepting resumes for a People and Culture Talent Acquisition to support full cycle recruiting for Empower Simcoe. In conjunction with the People and Culture Manager, preparing and posting vacant positions, screening applicants for interviews, setting up interviews for selected individuals, prepare interview packages, ensure all preemployment documents are obtained and verified, prepare offer letters and employment contracts and meeting with new employees to complete onboarding and orientation. Compensation package:

  • Work up to 37.5 hours per week;
  • Minimum starting rate of $31.49 per hour; $61,406 annualized;
  • Opportunity to work remotely up to 60% of scheduled hours;
  • 11 statutory holidays are observed, with public holiday pay;

Following the successful completion of a 3-month probationary period:

Minimum Requirements for this position include:?
  • Community College diploma in office administration or human resources or an equivalent knowledge and experience as deemed acceptable by Empower Simcoe.
  • Minimum of 3 years full-time recent administrative experience In People and Culture /Human Resources in a unionized and non-unionized environment preferably in the social services field;
  • 2 to 3 years full-time experience for full cycle recruiting including using social media and online recruitment methods, resume screening, preparing for interviews, reference checking, preparing offer letters and contract;
  • Commitment to delivering exceptional customer service and candidate experience throughout the recruitment process;
  • Experienced in working with data entry into an HRIS system is desirable and above average computer skills in Excel, Word, and Power Point;
  • Demonstrated excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, analytical, detail oriented and problem-solving skills, ability to work independently maintain confidentiality of privilege information; knowledge of the Employment Standards Act as it pertains to payroll and People and Culture and the ability to interpret collective agreements and Standards of Practice is preferred.

  • Valid drivers #39; license and own reliable transportation to be used in the course of employment.
Duties and Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):?
  • Receiving requests for posting vacant positions, drafting job postings for review and posting on our applicant tracking system
  • Ensuring posting of positions is done through a variety of avenues with an equity, inclusiion and diversity lens, including reaching out to community partners, educational institutions, to maximize our exposure
  • Research and recommend strategies to support strategic inclusive and diverse recruitment
  • Screening resumes while posting is current and upon expiry provide a short-list of qualified applicants to the hiring supervisor for their consideration
  • Contacting qualified applicants to set up interviews and sending confirmation of interviews to the applicants and to the interviewing team
  • Conducting reference checks for all external applicants and students
  • Preparing offer letters and employment contracts, where required for signing
  • Setting up a meeting to complete onboarding
  • Welcoming new employees and executing the engagement plan throughout the onboarding journey, coordinating onboarding and Agency-wide orientation presentations
  • Creating and maintaining employees onboarding handbooks
  • Suggesting creative ways of reaching out to attract diverse talent, using social media, online resources, marketing campaigns etc., to ensure optimum exposure. Assisting with new strategies to enhance the recruitment process by working on marketing campaigns, conducting research and recommending creative ways to support recruitment
  • Acting as a lead for student placements, ensuring health and safety education is provided and liaising with program areas for quality placements
  • Attending career fairs to support recruitment needs
  • Providing support to People and Culture Associate during periods of absences of staff, as required
  • Being knowledgeable of the duties performed by the People and Culture Employee Wellbeing to assist during periods of absences where coverage is required due to meeting payroll processing timelines
  • Maintaining an open and friendly relationship with all employees, and providing employees with information/clarification as required
  • Preparing recruitment statistics and reports as required
