Job Description

Want to make a difference in your career Consider this opportunity.The Specialist, IT Operations Technical plays a subject matter expert role in the on-going design, development, implementation of technical infrastructure solutions for DxH Non-Production Environments (NPE) - to ensure scalability, automation, robustness and performance of Ontario Health systems and its client’s applications.Here is what you will be doing:

  • Perform primary ticket triage for all service requests
  • Perform maintenance of development and Quality Assurance (QA) environments, as required
  • Identify and investigate problems, determining the root cause and corrective actions
  • Plan, prepare, implement, and validate complex changes
  • Review technical changes submitted on behalf of the team and determine impacts, attending Change Advisory Board (CAB) meetings, where required
  • Meet with product and architecture teams, other operational teams, and other key stakeholders to determine technical requirements and criteria for developing NPE infrastructure support
  • Facilitate business and technical analysis in the most direct path to a solution within the agreed timelines
  • Contribute to the evaluation of the architecture and technologies related to a business change and ensure consistency and integration with existing and planned architectures
  • Enhance and support NPE infrastructure frameworks, based on project needs
  • Assist in identifying cross-project and cross-product dependencies and/or overlaps to ensure minimized duplication of efforts and/or ensure that conflicts do not arise
  • Provide technical support during the product and/or project life cycle, bringing abroad view and a thorough understanding of the various environments, platforms, and components that product will face as it moves through NPE to production
  • Assist developers and QA Team in the correct use of the development and non-production QA environments
  • Will require working outside of normal business hours, and on weekends, as necessary to accommodate system implementations, maintenance, responses to outages
  • Occasionally, perform rotational on call (pre-scheduled) duties
Digital Delivery
  • Support DxH’s digital delivery framework
  • Build, maintain, and support NPE environments where digital practices, values and underlying principles are the common ground used to address specific delivery challenges and opportunities
  • Collaborate with internal teams (e.g. CCoE, Cloud operations, architecture, product, development, QA, production infrastructure, etc.) to operationalize digital practices within value-based stream teams and support the on-going transition from traditional framework to digital delivery
Methodologies, Tools, Processes, and Policies
  • Support the compliance with, and implementation of enterprise methodologies, tools, processes, and policies and support other team members on the use and adherence to Digital Excellence in Health (DxH) processes and practices.
  • Support a continuous improvement framework including metrics, processes, and culture to enhance overall adoption of innovative technologies (Azure, AWS, OpenShift, etc.) and digital practices across DxH.
Operational Excellence
  • Comply with all appropriate policies, processes, standards, and procedures for areas of responsibility
  • Ensures Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for NPE functional area are measured monthly to ensure that commitments are met or exceeded
  • Demonstrate personal excellence and technical competence. Bring knowledge, expertise, and personal credibility to the NPE team
  • Consistently contribute to NPE customer-centric culture
  • Align own activities and priorities with DxH priorities and objectives
  • Constantly and consistently improve the level of automation in NPE configuration and maintenance
Here is what you will need to be successful:Education and Experience
  • Completion of university degree in information technology, computer science, or related subjects
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with complex integrated applications
  • Working knowledge of High Availability (HA) solutions & Disaster Recovery (DR) Strategies
  • Experience in implementing, supporting, and maintaining Microsoft Windows Active Directory
  • Experience in supporting Microsoft Services such as FTP, IIS, DNS, DHCP
  • Experience configuring and supporting clustering technology
  • Experience configuring and supporting SFTP systems
  • Exposure to and working knowledge of database technologies (SQL, Oracle)
  • Good working knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, Firewalls}
  • Good working knowledge of VMware Virtualization Infrastructure
  • Good working knowledge of Oracle Identity Management
  • Good working knowledge of automation tools like Microsoft PowerShell, Ansible, etc.
  • Exposure to Cloud technologies and containers

  • Strong technical skill set with specialty in multiple technologies
  • Excellent technical and non-technical written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent communications and presentation skills – the ability to express oneself and communicate with peers, management, and executives

  • Problem solving approaches, tools, and techniques
  • Knowledge of approaches, tools, and techniques for working with individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner
